Summer Fun
Today was one of the hottest days ever, so it was a perfect day for Amelia to break in her new pool. She even had a cute new swimsuit to go with it – which, incidentally, coordinated with her sunscreen bottle.
Since I knew I’d be working in the yard while she played, I wore one of my older swimsuits with a pair of shorts when I picked her up. She was so excited when she saw the pool!
As I was working, my mind went to Stampin’ Up! colors. Because, really, when you’re pushing a pool vac around, what else can you think of? (I want one of those little shark thingies that cleans the pool by itself, but I haven’t talked Mike into it yet. That’s probably because he doesn’t vacuum the pool.)
Anyway…I kept looking at my swimsuit, thinking, “hmmmm… Soft Sea Foam, Mossy Meadow, Granny Apple Green. How can I recreate this?” I get a lot of color inspiration from clothes, purses, even beach towels and sunscreen bottles. (You’ll see those soon!)
When we finally came inside for the day, I created this.
I was super excited about this because I used the flower stamp in Flourishing Phrases that I’m not sure had ever seen ink. And I got to play with the Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon. So lovely! And it was so simple to tie into a bow. This ribbon comes in Gray Granite as well.
How To
Stamp the flower and leaf images in VersaMark ink on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, then emboss with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Sponge Mossy Meadow around a couple flowers, and in the center of one or two. Then sponge the rest of the panel with Granny Apple Green ink. Easy! (Unless you’re like Susan and break into hives when you see a Stamping Sponge.)
After you finish sponging, buff the embossed areas with a cloth or paper towel to remove any excess ink.
Stamp the sentiment from Petal Palette in Mossy Meadow Classic Ink, and add the bow with a Mini Glue Dot. Done!
Layer the stamped panel to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Mossy Meadow piece, then to a Granny Apple Green card base. I love this monochromatic look!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

I think emboss resist is one of my favorite techniques, because it’s so simple, but packs a huge wow. (Granny Apple Green is my favorite green too!)
