Red, White, and Blue Stamp Off Challenge
Happy Friday, Stampers! Hope you had a fabulous week and are ready for the weekend. Today is another Stamp Off challenge with Susan, Jackie, and me. This week, in honor of the 242nd birthday of the USA, it’s a red, white, and blue challenge.
I think one year I created a flag, and multiple years, I did fireworks. This year, I wanted to do something a little different.
Balloons and bubbles!! I used the Hand Delivered Hostess Set from the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog for my card. I stamped the lady with the balloons and a striped skirt in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I colored the balloons and the ladies skirt, top, and arms with Real Red, Pacific Point, and Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers. Very patriotic, right?
For the Pacific Point layer, I simply added polka dots using a Sponge Dauber and Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Ink. The Whisper White ink gets overlooked, because it’s not with the other inks. You can find it with the Stazon, Versamark, and Memento inks, as well as sponges, sponge daubers, brayers and more coloring tools on pp. 202 and 203 of the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The ink is opaque, so it’s perfect for cardstock – especially dark. And since it’s craft ink, you can emboss with it!
I added some dots and stars on the balloons with Stampin’ Write Markers, then stuck on some silver metallic enamel shaped stars. (Oops! These retired. I was certain I had seen them in the catalog. Well, let’s pretend they’re Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins, shall we? And don’t you LOVE the adhesive backed sequins? So easy to use!)
I left off the sentiment, because I’m not sure how I’ll use this card. It could be a birthday card, especially for someone born in July. It could also be a congratulations or celebration card. Or even a 4th of July card.
Now – head over to Susan’s and Jackie’s blogs to see what they’ve created today. I can’t wait to see!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
