Warmed with Love

Happy Monday, my crafty friends! I’m looking forward to a great week, aren’t you?

Friday was such a productive day. Miss Amelia wanted to craft, so while she colored and painted, I got all my cards for this week’s blog posts done and finished my June swap cards. Wooot! I only had to take a few breaks to clean up a little water that my mini Van Gogh spilled accidentally. She is quite the little artist.

I decided to break out my Time for Tea bundle. I got this from my Stampin’ Up! up-up-upline for recruits during the first quarter of this year. New stamps are so fun, but new stamps that are free are even better!

I’m in a vintage mode again. These images and colors just made me feel cozy, especially on the gray, rainy days we’ve been having this year. We haven’t even had a chance to open our pool this year. It’s probably for the best, because we’d just be frustrated that we couldn’t swim. Maybe this week… We had a summer like this soon after we moved into our current house. We were so excited about the pool – but it rained almost every day. So it happens sometimes. It makes the hot and sunny swim days even more enjoyable, though.

For this card, I stamped the floral images from the Timeless Textures Stamp Set repeatedly in Tranquil Tide Classic Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock. (I stamped off each time so the ink would be a bit lighter.)

The teacup is also stamped in Tranquil Tide on Mint Macaron Cardstock. I die-cut the cup and the label using the Spot of Tea Framelits Dies that coordinate with the Time for Tea Stamp Set, and if you bundle the two products, you can save 10%. I wanted to add a little color (besides green and Crumb Cake), but I didn’t want it too bright, so I stamped the sentiment in Merry Merlot Classic Ink before I die-cut.

After everything was stamped and die-cut, I sponged Crumb Cake ink over all the pieces, then added a touch of Soft Suede to the very edges of the sentiment label. After adding the Crumb Cake layer to the Mint Macaron card base, I adhered the sentiment and tea cup using Stampin’ Dimenaionals.

Here’s a little tip for you. If you’re adhering something with Stampin’ Dimensionals partially over something already adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals – like the tea cup over the sentiment – only use dimensionals over half the top image. In this case, I added a dimensional under the left side of the tea cup, but adhered the right side directly to the sentiment label. That way you don’t get a lopsided image.

I was happy with the card, but it needed just a little something extra. I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels to the front. Pearls are my go-to embellishment when I create something vintage.
