Heather Flourishes

I was in a slump today, and my creative mojo was at an all time low. Since I have been making Color Coaches with Stampin’ Up! color combinations, I decided to pull mine out for some inspiration. I decided to use Lovely Lipstick, because I haven’t used that color much.

I played around with Lovely Lipstick and Granny Apple Green, but my flowers from the Flourishing Phrases set just looked too much like Christmas. So I chucked that idea and decided to check out the Granny Apple Green page. Oooooh! Balmy Blue and Highland Heather were two of the suggestions to use with the Granny Apple Green. These are three gorgeous new colors.

Lots of cool things happened with this card. First, using the magic of the Stamparatus, I was able to stamp the flowers from Flourishing Phrases quickly and easily. I inked the stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, then stamped, turned the card 180 degrees (upside down, in case you’re like me and occasionally tend to be math challenged), inked, and stamped again. It was simple to color the flowers with Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Markers.

I knew I wanted to use the Stitched Labels Framelits for the sentiment. Susan (1/3 of BS&J Friday Stamp-Off Challenges) has been using these framelits a lot. Confession time – I didn’t really look at the framelits and some are on the other side of the framelit sheet you can see, so I missed a few of the cooler framelits! See the little “trellis” on the left? That’s one of the cool framelits. So fun! (Thanks, Susan!) The sentiment label is another framelit from the set. I stamped a sentiment from Flourishing Phrases in Balmy Blue on Whisper White Cardstock, then die-cut and added it to the layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The other really cool thing that happened is I got a package in the mail today. It was from Susan. Susan and I always go through the new ribbons in the catalog and decide which ones we’d like. The package today was full of her half of the ribbon we chose – so I used the Gorgeous Grape 1/4″ Mini Striped Ribbon on this card. It looks awesome with the Highland Heather and makes the Garden Green really stand out, don’t you think? (Susan, my half was shipped from Stampin’ Up! today, so you should get it soon.)

I can’t wait to send this card. It’s a perfect card to send to someone you’ve been thinking about. You can even write “…to say Happy Birthday!”
