Sitting Pretty

Sitting Pretty

I’ve been super puny all weekend and into the beginning of this week. I don’t know if it’s allergies (pollen is crazy right now) or a cold shared by my dear granddaughter who loves to share everything, but I have not been at my creative best.

You may remember the card I made using the Sitting Pretty Bundle. If you don’t remember, you can see it here. I love the benches in the set, as well as the little bulldog and other elements in the bundle. I knew when I saw it at OnStage that it was going on my wish list.

Here’s a video from Brandi at Stampin’ Up! who is always at her creative best! This video shows some of the features of the Sitting Pretty Bundle. It’s one of my favorites, and even though Max, our newest addition to the family, isn’t a bulldog, he reminds me a little of the pooch in this set. (More about Max after the video.)

Isn’t that fun? I love all the options with the park bench, and the ways you can use the framelits with the embossing mats.

Now, about Max. Max was originally named The General. I had heard a lot about The General (TG) from Mike. TG belonged to one of our rental clients. Mike made him treats at Christmas and always had a story to tell when he visited our clients.

When they had to move, the family couldn’t take TG with them. They were going to take him to a shelter. Well, we couldn’t have that, could we? After all, we’re a full service agency. Seriously, we do it all. One month, the gentleman tenant was out of town so he asked if we could pick up the rent since his wife had broken her leg and couldn’t drive. Sure. We called to let her know we were on the way. “Can you bring me a bottle of Merlot as well? I’ll pay you when you get here.” So, yeah. Property Management, Wine Delivery, and now Dog Rescue.

TG spent the first week “marking” his new home. I cleaned up so much dog pee, I was ready to send him back to Belgium (his original home before he came to the US). After the third or fourth time, I demoted him to “Recruit.” His name is now Max. (Actually, sometimes it’s Walter/Taz/Sam/Oh – DOG.) Amelia calls him “Maxie Bug.” Fitting name. Mike calls him General Maximilian. And if you’re wondering how I could change his name halfway (or a third of the way) through his life, I can honestly say he never answered to “General,” so I figured I might as well rename him. I’m happy to say he is over his territorial spree and is settling in nicely. He gets along very well with the cat, even though she’s not always sure he’s ok. They take turns chasing each other through the house, because they’re just about the same size.

He does kind of look like a general here. He just needs to be chomping on a cigar.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

General Max does remind me of Winston Churchill! By the way, do you mind bringing me some wine too? I like Pinto Grigio please!

Me too, Jackie! It was getting old. He’s doing really well, except he doesn’t like staying home if I’m not here. But if I take him with me, he barks at everyone – or shows a little too much love by jumping into their laps. We still have some work to do…

Oh dear – I hadn’t thought about Max making your place his own! Poor you, Buffy! Glad to hear that you all made it over that ‘ruff’ patch (sorry – I had to do it!)
