Nature Sings

One of the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I had been putting off purchasing is the Nature Sings Stamp Set in the Annual Catalog. When I saw the 2018-19 Annual Catalog and found out it had carried over, it went onto my next order.

This set is in the Holiday section, and it is a beautiful Christmas set. But it also is perfect for other occasions as well. I used it for a Father’s Day card for my dad.

I know it’s a little late for Father’s Day, but you can easily substitute the sentiment with Happy Birthday! (And this is probably what I’ll do for my brother’s birthday next week.)

I decided to do a monochromatic card, so I stamped the images in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake Cardstock, then added a sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set, also in Early Espresso. To add a little interest to the Early Espresso Cardstock Layer, I used the large and small leaves from the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies with the Big Shot Embossing Mats to emboss the leaf images. So fun! These mats let you have much more versatility with your framelits and thinlits. You can cut, emboss, or cut and emboss. I’ll post a quick video showing how to use them at the end of this post.

To finish up the card, I added some Burlap Ribbon under the stamped layer. I cut two small pieces and adhered them to the back of the Crumb Cake Cardstock so I wouldn’t waste what you can’t see under the layer. I adhered the embossed Early Espresso layer to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, then to a Crumb Cake card base. Finally I added the stamped layer/ribbon to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
