Out with the Old Stamp-Off Challenge

Out with the Old Stamp-Off Challenge

Welcome to another Stamp-Off Challenge with my friends, Susan and Jackie, and me. We’re saying, “Goodbye,” to some favorites this week.

Because it’s been raining fairly non-stop for the past several days, I decided to use the Weather Together Stamp Set and Umbrella Weather Framelits Dies.

There’s a lot of texture on this card. I wanted to use the Shimmery White Embossing Paste, because I thought it would look great for clouds. But then I saw the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper in my paper file, so I decided to use a mix.

I used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks with the Shimmery White Embossing Paste for some of the clouds on the Smoky Slate cardstock layer, then I die-cut the other clouds with the Umbrella Weather Framelits and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. I know the die-cut clouds look a little red (at least on my laptop they do), but it must be my camera. They’re actually sponged with Smoky Slate Classic ink.

While the embossed clouds were drying I stamped the umbrella on Whisper White with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink, then die-cut it. I filled in the blank stripes with a Bermuda Bay Marker. The handle is die-cut from a Champagne Foil Sheet.

I stamped some raindrops in VersaMark ink, then embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. And, finally, I added the sentiment in Bermuda Bay Classic Ink.

My retiring products are the Weather Together Stamp Set and Umbrella Weather Framelits Dies, as well as the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. We’ll still have a glittery glimmer paper after May 31, but it will be called Sparkle Glimmer Paper. I’m not sure how different it will be from the Dazzling Diamonds paper, but I’ll let you know when I find out.

So now, go see what Jackie and Susan have for you. They have both been posting amazing projects with retiring products, so I can’t wait to see what they have for this challenge. I know they’d also appreciate it if you left a comment. 😉

So after the old comes a new. Here’s a new thing for you. Mike & I have adopted another pet. This is The General.

Look at that adorable face. This little guy reminds me of my dad, because every time I tried to take a photo, he looked away – just like my dad does. But he’s a sweetheart (like my dad) and so cuddly. He belonged to one of our rental tenants, and they had to move. They were going to take him to the SPCA (because he’s a barker and their new place had to stay quiet), so Mike & I intervened. We couldn’t let this little guy with the huge heart go to the pound!

We’re a full-service real estate brokerage. Several years ago, these same tenants called and asked if we could pick up their rent. The husband was out of town, and the wife had fallen and wasn’t able to drive. Sure, we could do that. Oh, wait…Could we also bring a bottle of wine for her? We cracked up at that, but headed to the grocery store on the way to her house to pick up a bottle of the requested Merlot. Because at Cornerstone, we do more than just sell houses!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks, Jackie. And, yes, the General is a sweetheart. He is totally disinterested in the cat, but Ashlynn isn’t giving him any chances. Hopefully she’ll get brave soon and go meet him!

I love this blog post – a great card, an adorable dog, and a funny story! 🙂 I hope your rain stops soon, that Ashlynn starts to cut General some slack, and that someone drops off a bottle of wine for you & Mike, Buffy!

🙂 Thanks, Deborah! Ashlynn did jump down from her perch about three feet from the General, so there’s hope! (He still doesn’t realize she even exists. He’s in his own little world.)
