Impossible Adventure

Welcome to my adventure today! Mike had to go out of town for a class, and I decided to tag along. I needed a little break. Before I show you my “impossible” card, here’s the story.

Our kitchen is super tiny. It’s kind of a “half galley” with a dead end. We have one wall with counter tops and a sink; the other wall is empty. Mike & I had a little cafe table (very like the one in the Charming Cafe Stamp Set!) that fit perfectly. When the boys arrived, we opted for a larger work table with more space (and two bar stools, so the boys usually ate breakfast and/or lunch there). We keep talking about remodeling the kitchen to make it more functional, but I know it’s going to be a long and messy process that will be lovely when finished but not fun in the meantime.

These days, our cat Ashlynn sits on the bar stool (the other is in my craft room), and if someone is working at the countertop, Ashlynn can reach that person with her paw. She often swats Mike & me on the back to remind us she could use a little treat. As I was in the final stages of meal prep and plating dinner, she was swatting. I grabbed two treats and took them to the family room and handed them to Mike and headed back to the kitchen. He just stared at the treats for a second, then said, “Am I supposed to eat these, or….” Oops. Wrong person. Fortunately I didn’t give his plate of chicken to the cat. So I’m enjoying a day of just doing what I want and not having to think or take care of anyone else for a few hours. My brain just needs some downtime.

Anyway…Here’s the card we’ll be making at our demonstrator team meeting next week.

It’s another “Impossible Card.” These are so simple to make. For this one, I used the Sea of Textures Stamp Set with the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP). You can see how easy it is to create this card in my first Impossible Card post here.

The Under the Sea Framelits make this card a breeze. I die cut the coral, sand dollars, octopus, and sea grass from Mint Macaron, Calypso Coral, Tranquil Tide, Crumb Cake, and Sahara Sand Cardstock.

Because the octopus is so detailed, I die-cut it first, then stamped using the Stamparatus. Simply use the “negative” (cardstock that has the die cut out of it) as a template. Place the tamplate into the Stamparatus, then place the stamp in the negative area and close the Stamparatus to adhere the stamp to the plate. Place the die-cut into the template, ink the stamp and close the plate over the die-cut for a perfectly stamped image. Easy! You can see photos of this process in this post.

After making the cuts to create the card, I die-cut the little school of fish from the DSP. And that’s really all there is to this card. Simply adhere the die-cut elements where you want them and add the DSP to a Fresh Fig card base. I didn’t use a full card; the Fresh Fig is just a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ base.

The sentiment is Tranquil Tide on Mint Macaron. It didn’t stand out as much as I wanted, so I used a 1/2″ circle punch to notch the corners, then sponged the edges with Fresh Fig Classic Ink.
