Sitting Pretty

Sitting Pretty

I love dogs. Right now, we have a cat, but Mike & I are both dog people. Don’t get me wrong – we love our cat, but dogs are so much easier. They don’t bite or scratch you if you pet them. They don’t attack your feet when you walk down the hallway. Dogs give unconditional love always. Cats kind of show love by hurting you. After Stampin’ Up! OnStage in April, I was pulling out some retired In Colors that were returning. As I was moving ink spots and markers and refills and stamp pads around, my cat decided to attack my hand. This was over two weeks ago; I still have a scar.

Dogs are much easier than cats.  So when I saw the Sitting Pretty stamp set in the new Stampin’ Up! 2018-19 Annual Catalog, I had to have it. Of course, I had to “second guess” myself. Mike’s a “big dog” kind of guy – and so am I. We have had three German Shepherds and a shepherd mix, plus a Rottweiler who topped 180 pounds at his heaviest (loved that big guy. Sweetest dog ever!). But then there was the five pound wonder Budgie (who was really named Buffy, but it got confusing since that’s my name. She lived with my parents for awhile, and since she was a budget-sized dog, she got renamed to Budgie) and Walter – my favorite dog ever and I still miss him and tear up when I think about him – so little dogs are my favorites now. And, of course, that cute little bulldog in the Sitting Pretty set is adorable! So it was a whole two seconds of thought before this was added to my order.

Stampin' Up!, Sitting Pretty

I wasn’t sure I wanted the Sitting Pretty bundle, but then I thought, “squirrel, bulldog, two chairs and an embosslit, plus a bird and flowers.” These are all my favorite things. So onto my preorder it went, and I’m so glad I succumbed to my urges. I love this bundle!

How To Make this Card

Stamp the chair in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then stamp the heart in Real Red in the center of the chair. Stamp the bulldog in Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Classic Ink, and the squirrel in Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. Die-cut all the images with the coordinating Pretty Park Framelits Dies and adhere the bulldog and squirrel as shown.

Tear a 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2 piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock  to form the background for the chair. Emboss stones using the Pretty Park Framelits Dies. Stamp a few blades of grass using Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pads. Adhere the Crumb Cake layer to a Pool Party card base.

Use the Shimmery White Embossing Paste with the Party Pattern Decorative Masks  to create clouds on the Pool Party card base, then add the sentiment in Soft Suede.

Adhere the Crumb Cake layer to the card base, then add the chair, bulldog, and squirrel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I love this card, especially the sentiment. It’s going to Mike, of course, because I’d rather be with him anywhere than anywhere without him. We’re a super team!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

I bought this set too. I wasn’t going to but I saw so many adorable samples that I had to have it. It wouldn’t matter anyway because after seeing this card, I would have bought it for sure. Adorable!

If it has a dog, a squirrel and a bird – it’s a ‘must have’! I totally agree, Buffy 🙂 Such a sweet card – it looks like their on their first date, with the heart in the middle.
