Waterfront Stamp-Off Challenge
Welcome to another Friday Stamp-Off Challenge. Since Jackie, Susan and I all have the Waterfront Stamp Set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog (and – good news! – it’s carrying over to the 2018-19 Annual Catalog!), we decided to use that for our challenge this week.
This is one of my favorite sets ever. There are so many things you can do with it, and it coordinates with so many other sets and papers.
Here’s my card for the challenge.
This scene makes me feel peaceful. I had so much fun creating this. First, I stamped the sky with the smaller “mountain” stamp. I spritzed the Watercolor Paper, then I sprinkled some Prussian Blue Brusho Crystal Colour on the stamp and spritzed it, then stamped on the watercolor paper. I repeated this several times.
I used the same stamp to create the water in Coastal Cabana and the sand dunes in Sahara Sand. I added some texture to the water in Bermuda Bay and to the sand in Crumb Cake.
Although I added a few more stamps here and there (in the sand in Sahara Sand and the sky in Pacific Point), that was the extent of my use of the Waterfront set.
I added some grasses from the High Tide Stamp Set (also carrying over!) in Soft Suede and Crumb Cake and Pineapple Punch (one of the new In Colors for 2018-2020). The birds are another High Tide stamp. I used Basic Black Archival Ink to stamp them. I think this is the only retiring product on the card. Basic Black and Basic Gray Archival Stamp Pads will be retiring. Basic Gray will be in Classic Ink in the next catalog, and for black, we’ll have Jet Black StazOn for watercoloring and Tuxedo Black Memento for general stamping and for use with the Stampin’ Blends.
The little boat is hand drawn (and not you see why I use rubber – or photopolymer – stamps!) with Early Espresso and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Markers. Finally, I stamped the sentiment (from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set, carrying over to the next catalog!) in Soft Suede Classic Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock. I tore the edges. I have a really hard time tearing. I know that sounds weird, but my tears are too short. In this case, though, it kind of mimics water, so it’s a good thing! I sponged the edges with some Crumb Cake ink and added a few grasses to blend into the card. The card base is Coastal Cabana.
These are some of my favorite carrying over and returning colors. They all feel very beachy to me.
Take a few minutes to see what Susan and Jackie have created for you. Everything I’ve seen them do with the Waterfront set to date has been gorgeous and so creative and artistic. I can’t wait to see what this did this week!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
Product List (Note: The Coastal Cabana ink pad and cardstock shown are retired. The returning products will have different numbers and will be available in June. The Pineapple Punch stamp pad, as well as the other four In Colors for 2018-2020, will be available in May during the Share What You Love prerelease.)
This card is beautiful, Buffy. I love how you added the sailboat with a pop of color. It is a very peaceful scene!

Really pretty Buffy! I’m struggling with the Waterfront stamp set (probably because I love straight lines), but I am going to try to CASE this one.

Thanks, Carol! The cool thing about this set is it does all of the work. And if you don’t like it, just stamp over it. I know yours will be beautiful.

You should see all my attempts so far. They’re pretty bad. I’m going to keep trying.

I’ll bet they’re not as bad as you think! It’s supposed to look messy!

Thanks, Jackie! I need a little more work with the “Stamping with Brusho” technique, but it worked great for the clouds. I think I’m too heavy handed with the water.

Thanks, Deborah! I’m a little heavy handed with the spritzer, but I was happy with the sky!
