Varied Vases Wreath
Every time I think spring is here, the weather says, “Psych! Just kidding!” and gets chilly again. It was in the mid-upper 80s here over the weekend. Today? Kind of chilly low 50s. (Did I mention I’m from the South? That’s chilly here. Especially when there’s not much sun.) So I’m forcing the season with this card using the new Varied Vases set from the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.
This set was inspired by million dollar sales achiever Mary Fish. It has various vases and flowers you can add together to make a cute card. There’s also a coordinating punch which you can order separately or with the stamp set and save 10%. I decided to use some of the leaves and flowers with my Stamparatus to make a wreath.
Susan made a wonderful template – actually templates! – using plastic and square framelits – that’s perfect for creating a perfect wreath. And she gave me a set at OnStage! Susan gives the best “pillow gifts.” Mine are pretty lame in comparison. (She got a pillow box filled with candy. Not too original.) Here are the templates (yes, there are two of them!)
I used the smaller one for my card. Cut a 3-1/2″ square piece of cardstock and insert it into the template in the Stamparatus. Place the stamp where you want it, then ink and stamp. Turn the cardstock to the next “point” on the template, and stamp. Continue until you have the design you want. I went round and round and round, because I used four colors for the flowers (Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, and Blueberry Bushel) and Call Me Clover for the leaves. These are the five new in colors for 2018-2020, by the way.
After I finished, I used a Blender Pen and ink pads to color in the flowers and leaves. The sentiment – thanks – is also from the Vivid Vases Stamp set; I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink for that.
I thought it needed a bit more, so I created a Call Me Clover vase with some Lovely Lipstick flowers. Easy!
Thanks, Susan, for the idea and for the templates! (She’s the best!)
The Varied Vases stamp set, punch, and new In Colors will be available at noon MT on June 2.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
Such a pretty card, Buffy. I love how you made your own DSP using the stencils. It is gorgeous!

Thanks, Susan! The templates are perfect!! And it left just enough room for the sentiment. (And I forgot…I did sponge! But not a lot.)

Wow – this is so cool! I’m going to have to ask Susan how she made this template, so I can create one, too! Such a pretty card, Buffy! I hope Spring listens to you, and hurries up and arrives!

Thanks, Deborah! I think you just cut two of the same sized squares in the center, going different directions, of course. I made one out of cardstock. I cut a 3-3/4″ square, then used it as a template to cut out the centers. It wasn’t as nice as Susan’s. (Not even close!)
