They’re Back!

They’re Back!

I’m so excited about the Stampin’ Up! Color Revamp. Not only do we have more colors (53), they’re fresher and vibrant. And six of my favorite retired In Colors are coming back.

The New Colors

Flirty Flamingo will retire as an In Color, but will come right back as a core color in the Brights Collection. Also in the Brights will be Poppy Parade and Coastal Cabana. Mint Macaron will enter the Subtles Collection, Blackberry Bliss will join the Regals, and Mossy Meadow will be a new Neutral. There are lots of other changes as well. Take a look at all of the new, current, and returning colors.

How gorgeous is that palette? Look at those beautiful lavenders, lilacs, and purples! And the greens! Sadly, when one or two of the retiring colors was announced at OnStage, there was some heartless cheering in the group. There are some retiring colors that I really liked (but their replacements are wonderful) and a few I didn’t use much, but overall, I wasn’t cheerfully giddy about them leaving. I mean, those colors have feelings, right? And once upon a time, we loved Always Artichoke with Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler for vintage Christmas cards, didn’t we? (Well, some of us! Susan gets hives when you mention “vintage.” Shelli Gardner created a card and she sponged and crumpled designer series paper. I thought I was going to have to call 9-1-1 for Susan.) I guess Always Artichoke is like huge shoulder pads from the 80s – wonderful when it was “in,” but now just snipped out so you can still use the jacket (or color collection).

Did you notice that Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Real Red, and Old Olive are all Regals now? When I joined Stampin’ Up!, Old Olive was one of the “Earth Elements” (along with Pumpkin Pie, I think). Then it moved to the Brights Collection, and now it’s a Regal. No wonder it’s my “go to” green. What a versatile color!

A New Group

Did you notice the new Basics group? This makes room for more colors!  And Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, and Merry Merlot in the Neutrals? Awesome!! We got a color swatch book at Center Stage, and, honestly, the new color palette is amazing.

I’ll be making cards with retiring product (and some new product and colors) over the next few weeks. Plus there’s an early release of a whole suite in May, but more on that later!

Returning In Colors

Here’s a card I made with the returning In Colors – Flirty Flamingo (she just couldn’t stay in retirement, could she? What a tease that one is!), Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, Poppy Parade, and my all time favorite color – Coastal Cabana. I’m so happy that it’s back.

Beautiful Day, Stampin' Up!< Around the Corner

I used a new stamp set from the 2018-19 Annual Catalog – Around the Corner (Yay, Prize Patrol! Ok, I really think this was Susan’s Prize Patrol, but we traded) – and the Beautiful Day Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog for this card. (If you checked my blog yesterday, you know that Beautiful Day is NOT on the retiring list. WOOT!)  Stamp the corner sentiment on a Blackberry Bliss card base in VersaMark ink, then emboss with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

A Little Sidetrack

I know I blame all my stamping gaffs on Amelia, but honestly, she did have a hand in this one. Since we hadn’t seen each other since Thursday, she wanted to play with me today. A lot. So I was rushing to finish this while she was playing in my craft room, and the embossing got a little messy. She also wanted to help, and I was trying to keep her away from the smoking hot Heat Tool! Now that we have the Color Revamp, I let her choose as many of my retired markers that didn’t make the cut (who’s surprised that Summer Starfruit is destined to be in the “markers for kids” bin?) as she wanted to color some images I had stamped for her. Apparently she colors really fast. While I was working on this card, she had not only finished coloring her flower and butterfly, but she had drawn “tattoos” on both her arms and a lot of her face with Island Indigo and Raspberry Ripple. (Her Uncle Jon thought she had a nose bleed. Nope. Just a crafter.) It was actually quite artistic. I sent her picture to her parents with a note saying that by now, I should know that when kids are quiet, it’s usually not good at all. Neither one responded. I may be out of a job. Anyone need a nanny? We’ll play games – all sorts! And I am kind, witty, and fairly sweet. And your kids will definitely need a bath when they come home.

Back to the Card

Stamp the butterfly on Shimmery White Cardstock, first in Blackberry Bliss Classic ink, then stamp over the original using VersaMark ink. (Tip: Use the Stamparatus or another stamp positioner for perfect placement.) Then emboss with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Color the image using Coastal Cabana, Mint Macaron, Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow, and Flirty Flamingo ink and an Aqua Painter (on my card, Coastal Cabana is the top and bottom color, then Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade. The two dark green areas are Mossy Meadow, and the remaining four spaces are Mint Macaron).  Stamp the sentiment from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow ink, and sponge the edges with a little Flirty Flamingo Classic Ink. Add the stamped panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s another little tip for you. Measure the area between the two corner sentiments so you won’t cover them up with the stamped layer. My Shimmery White piece is 3″ x 4″, but yours may be a bit different depending on where you stamp your corners.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

I can not understand for the life of me why someone would take a perfectly good piece of DSP and crumple it all up into a tiny ball! That is what I do when I mess up and throw it out. It was horrifying! I guess only crazy people do vintage!

I love that corner sentiment! And hurray for the return of Coastal Cabana 🙂 It almost makes up for Dapper Denim not sticking around.
