Heartfelt Blooms Easel Card
Here’s a really fun idea for the Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Blooms Sale-a-bration Stamp Set, as well as the Tutti-Frutti Cards & Envelopes – another Level 1 Sale-a-bration set. This idea is from Julie Davison, another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.
I stamped the image in Basic Gray Archival Ink, then colored with Watercolor Pencils. After I had color on the image, I smoothed it out with a Blender Pen. Super easy! Oh, wait…this is a surprise card. (You’ve probably already guessed from the photo and the title.)
It’s an easel card. Since this is a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card, simply score the front of the card at 2-1/8″. The Whisper White layer is 3-3/4″ square, and I layered it to a 4″ square of Basic Black Cardstock.
Be sure when you adhere the layers to the card front, you only add adhesive to the bottom half of the Basic Black layer. Otherwise, it won’t pop up. If you do, though, there’s no problem. Use your heat tool on the low setting to melt the adhesive, then rub the top with your Embossing Buddy to deactivate the glue. Apply a bit more to the bottom half, and your card is good to go!
The sentiment is also from Heartfelt Blooms. I stamped in Basic Gray on Pool Party Cardstock, then punched with the Everyday Label Punch (a carry-over from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog). Be sure to pop the sentiment label up on Stampin’ Dimensionals so it will catch the front of the card.
I love this fold, because your card recipient can display the card without it falling over. Unless you have a cat. My cat knocks everything over. I found my tin of brushes all over the floor. Apparently they were in her way. She likes to sit in my craft room window, which is just beside my desk. When she jumps down, she always knocks something off. But she’s good company, and except for the knocking off – and stealing my sponges – she’s pretty easy to get along with.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Very nice effect, colouring the flowers with the Watercolor Pencils, Buffy! I like the square easel, as well.

Thanks, Deborah! These flowers look amazing colored with blends, of course! But for a large-ish class, I wasn’t sure how long it would take. (And I only have one set of blends.) Everyone was surprised at how bold the color was after it was blended with the Blender Pen.
