Brusho Birds
I know I’ve said this before, but I’m loving the Brusho Crystal Colour in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. I like that you don’t always know exactly how it’s going to turn out. It’s fun for random backgrounds, for “painting” an image, or even for using it as ink on a stamp. And the five colors in the Stampin’ Up! bundle (Moss Green, Prussian Blue, Yellow, Brilliant Red, and Gamboge – which is orange) are perfect, because you can mix and match to create almost any color you want.
For this card, I started with the background. I knew I wanted sky and “land,” and kind of a morning scene, so I sprinkled Prussian Blue and Yellow on Watercolor paper and spritzed. (I sprinkled and spritzed the yellow first. After it dried, I repeated at the top of the paper with the blue.)
I stamped the bird image and colored it with Stampin’ Blends after the Brusho dried. It was fine – except for the birds. They were a little dark, so I stamped again in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White Cardstock, then colored with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends. I fussy cut the birds and pieced them over the originals. I love how they really stand out against the blue sky.
For a little extra touch, I added a branch from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. The sentiment is from the Occasions Catalog Stamp Set, Lovely Wishes. A few Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes complete the card.
I’m looking foreward to chirping birds and sunshine through the trees. Today, it’s gray and drizzly with freezing rain. Bleh. If it’s going to be cold and wet, I’d rather have snow than ice. But it’s a good day to stay inside and craft, so I can’t complain.
By the way, Sale-a-bration (SAB) is the perfect time to order the entire Stampin’ Blends collection. You’ll earn two Level 1 SAB products, or one Level 2 product. Add the Brusho Crystal Colour, and you can get three Level 1 products, or 1 Level 2 and 1 Level 1. PLUS you’ll earn Stampin’ Rewards, because your order will be $150 – so you can add one of the stamp sets as well. I love this time of year. (Minus the snow, ice, and cold, of course.)
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Jeepers Buffy, this is stunning. The way those birds stand out, against the Brusho is brilliant. What an amazing way to use the Bursho and how well it goes with the birds, which I would not have put together

Thanks, Jackie! It was a happy accident. I chose the colors, but didn’t really think about the birds until after the background was finished. I do tend to work backwards a lot!
