Stamp-Off Sketch Challenge
Welcome to another Stamp-Off! Friday Challenge. This week’s is a sketch challenge.
How fun is this sketch? With all the papers and background stamps Stampin’ Up! has, plus the shapes that are available, the hardest part about this challenge was deciding what to use.
I think I’m a lot like my mom. We had lunch the other day, and she mentioned that she kind of builds a meal as she goes. She’ll decide, “We’ll have this as a main dish,” or “We need to use up this leftover (whatever)…” Then she’ll think about what would “go” with that, or what else she needs to get rid of from the fridge – or what she has extra from the garden. And it keeps building from there.
That’s the way I built my card for today’s challenge.
I wanted to use the Swirly Bird set, and specifically wanted a little boat. Boats remind me of spring and I’m ready for winter to be gone. (Of course, we’re only about three weeks in, so I have a little while to wait.)
For the paper, I thought something blue would be good, because water and sky are both blue. And then I realized I hadn’t used my Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack (DSP) for awhile. Two elements chosen.
I knew I wanted Dapper Denim as the card base, since that was the color of the DSP. Mike gave me the color for the stamped layer. I held the DSP up to Marina Mist and Soft Sky. “Which looks better, this? Or this?” Mike’s response: “Go with the blue.” Ummmmm, not that helpful, Love. I held up the Soft Sky. “This blue?” (Switch to Marina Mist) “Or this blue?” Again – “Yeah, the blue.” Finally I had him point to the blue he liked. To be fair, to the untrained eye, Soft Sky often doesn’t look blue if you don’t have really good light.
The rest of the card was easy. I wanted a happy boat that would stand out against all the blues, so I stamped the bottom in Chocolate Chip and the sails in Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum. I used the Amazing You Sale-a-bration set for the sentiment. If you purchase the Swirly Bird stamp set and the coordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, you can get the Amazing You set (or another of the Level 1 Sale-a-bration products) free!
Take a few minutes to check out the super amazing creations from Susan and Jackie. You’re going to love them, I promise!

I like how the multiple blues seem to be pointing to the little boat 🙂
