Stamp-Off Friday Color Challenge
It’s time for another Stamp-Off Friday Challenge! I love the challenges with Susan and Jackie! They really challenge me – and this one is one of the most challenging. It’s a color challenge.
Lemon Lime Twist – Got it! I love Lemon Lime Twist! Wooooohooo! Elegant Eggplant – Woooooot! – with Lemon Lime Twist – Hmmmmm. A little harder. Ok, though – I’ve got this. Tempting Turquoise with anything…Hmmmm, No.
Tempting Turquoise is my nemesis. Seriously. I love the color, but using it with any stamps and other colors just gives me hives. It’s the color that I challenge myself to use, because it’s the last one I ever go to, even though I really love the color. I paired it with Real Red many years ago – ahhhhh! LOVE! But with Lemon Lime Twist? Who posted this challenge, and do I need to unfriend her?
I had to think about this one. Lemon Lime Twist….grass, leaves, other greens. Got it! Elegant Eggplant…shadows, mountains. Tempting Turquoise…water, and…Yeah, I’m out.
So – I went with grass, water, and mountains and got this card using the beautiful High Tide stamp set and a new set that will be available January 3 (unless you’re a demonstrator), Waterfront.
How much do you love the Waterfront set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog? I hope you love it a lot, because you’ll probably be seeing a lot of samples between now and the end of the Occasions Catalog Sales Period. This is my absolute favorite set from the Occasions Catalog.
I stamped the Lemon Lime Twist “land” first. Then I stamped the mountains in Elegant Eggplant. Some of them were stamped off to create distance. And then I stamped the water in Tempting Turquoise.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a messy stamper. So I often have smudges or stamp edge marks or fingerprints (yeah; I’ve had fingerprints and even blood; so much DNA!) on my cards. To cover up some of my smudges, I added the birds from the High Tide Stamp Set and the splatters from Waterfront.
I stamped the sentiment on a separate piece of Whisper White Cardstock, then sponged the edges with Elegant Eggplant and added it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Duo Banner Punch to create the banner.
So there you go – my super color challenge card. Please take a few minutes to check out Jackie and Susan’s blogs to see their awesome creations using this challenge. You’ll be glad you checked in – and you’ll probably want to follow their blogs as well! Susan posts every Monday through Friday, and Jackie posts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I always check out their posts because they’re amazing and inspire me every day!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Have a beautiful day.
Product List (reminder: the Waterfront Photopolymer Stamp Set will not be available to customers until January 3.)
Love the card.

You did a great job with these colors! Your card is beautiful! I had a hard time with the Elegant Eggplant. I love this new set and it is my favorite in the Occasions Catalog too.

Buffy you need not have worried about the colors because your logic and execution were perfect. This is wonderful. The addition of those birds makes it perfect! I do think that these were 3 colors that really worked well together.

Thanks, Jackie. I never would have paired these three colors, but they do work really well together! Great challenge. (And, yeah – the birds make any card better. They’ve gotten a lot of use lately!)

My first thought when I saw the 3 colours was ‘well, that IS a challenge!’ But you did wonderfully, Buffy! (and there are no mistakes – only design opportunities! LOL) I can’t wait to play with this set – it was on the top of my list, too!
