Coffee Café Birthday
Everyone who knows me knows that if they need to buy me a gift, coffee is always an excellent choice (dark, non-flavored). Gift cards for coffee are also an option that will be appreciated. I once had someone say it was difficult to buy for me, because how many times can you buy coffee. (Answer: Ummmmm, every gift-giving event. I don’t need people to be original.)
Stampin’ Up! has a wonderful set in the current Annual Catalog – Coffee Café. It’s such a fun set, with a coffee “take-out” cup, lids, coffee beans, and more. There’s also a “companion” set, Merry Café, in the 2017 Holiday Catalog. Take a look.
Both of these sets coordinate with the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies, and, of course, there’s the beautiful Coffee Break Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I was in a coffee mood tonight, so I made this.
I stamped the coffee cup in Basic Black Archival Ink on Garden Green Cardstock, and the sleeve in Basic Black Archival Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock and die-cut them with the Coffee Cups Framelits. There are two dies for the sleeve; one simply cuts out, the other cuts and embosses. I didn’t stamp the lid; I simply die-cut it from Basic Black Cardstock. The little stopper thingy they put in the drinking hole to keep it from spilling is also not stamped, just die-cut from Garden Green. (Question – Is that why they put it in there? To keep the drink from spilling? Free gift to the first person who comments with an answer!)
I die-cut the oval tag first, then stamped with celebrate from Thoughtful Banners. On the larger Whisper White layer, I stamped the coffee beans in Early Espresso (kind of a no-brainer there!) and the sentiment (also from Thoughtful Banners) in Basic Black.
To pull in the paper, I added a strip of the coffee ring DSP to a strip of Early Espresso Cardstock, then layered it all together. This makes a fun birthday card, and it can be used for anyone. Or, at least, anyone old enough to drink from a to-go cup without a sippy lid.
I’ve gotten some absolutely gorgeous Christmas cards this year. I’ll show them to you next week!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Love this and I have a daughter that loves her coffee too so will probably try a version of this card!

yes, the little stopper is supposed to prevent spilling – i learned that recently at Alterra in Milwaukee; the barista offered them when he learned that i was carrying two cups out and across the street 🙂

Yes – it’s called a drip stopper! (or spill stopper). I use them all the time; I hate it when coffee spurts out of the cup & into the cup holder in my car! 😛 Such a cute card, Buffy 🙂
