Stamp-Off Friday Color Challenge
Susan, Jackie, and I have a fun color challenge for this week. When I chose these colors back in July, I forgot that the challenge would be in cooler weather, so they don’t really fit Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Fortunately for me, I just loaded up on some spring sets from the upcoming Occasions 2018 Catalog. I’m not going to show too many sneak peeks before the catalog goes live in January, because there are so many amazing products you can buy now in the Holiday and Annual catalogs. I do love this little Flying Home set, though, so you get a little peek at new product today.
We got this set free at CenterStage Leadership on Saturday. It’s such a cute little set with birds and birdhouses plus a few individual birds, butterflies and even a bee. All of the little birds look so happy. That’s probably because spring is here. (Or it will be soon after the set is released.) Or maybe it’s because Sale-a-bration will be starting at the same time in January. That makes me happy too.
How adorable is that little bird? I thought this would be a perfect image for the color challenge. I used the same layout from the OnStage Make & Take card using the Petal Passion Suite. (You can see the card here. It’s the card on the right.)
I used the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper in Lemon Lime Twist for the background. I stamped the bird image in Basic Black Archival ink, then colored with Lemon Lime Twist, Island Indigo, and Melon Mambo Classic Stampin’ Pads and a Blender Pen. I wanted kind of a weathered look for the bird house. It’s still early for spring, so Mr. Bluebird hasn’t had time for spring cleaning and sprucing up. I die-cut the image with the Layering Circle Framelits. The only non-challenge color I used was a little Daffodil Delight on a few flower centers. And Basic Black and Whisper White, of course.
The banner and sentiment are from the Home Life stamp set in the 2017-18 Annual Catalog. I bought this set to use for Mike’s thank you cards for real estate clients. Fun story – to help us pass the time happily and a little more patiently while we were standing in l-o-n-g lines waiting for our OnStage bags, Stampin’ Up! employees had little challenges for us. One was to guess the name of a stamp set. It was Home Life – and I won a spool of ribbon for answering correctly. Love that free product, don’t you?
Check out what Susan and Jackie have created for this challenge. I know Susan is a big fan of Lemon Lime Twist, and it’s probably growing on Jackie, because we keep using it in challenges. (Sorry, Jackie!)
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
