You’ve Got Style
When I saw You’ve Got Style in the 2017-18 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, I knew I’d one day have that stamp set. I love the attitude of the character. Holly, the leader of the Virtual PJ Party last month, drew names for prizes after the party, and I won one! We could choose our prize, and this was my choice.
I used Watercolor Pencils to color the lady and cat. Obviously she’s very, very pale. Although I did color her skin, it’s not obvious in the photo. I used Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight for her Caucasian skin tones. I usually go a little heavy and my people look either sunburned, jaundiced, or a bit tipsy; this time, I think I was too gentle with my pencils. It’s ok, though. Her outfit is the star of the show!
I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter to her ring, necklace (one of them, anyway) and her watch using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I also added some Wink of Stella to the cat’s collar, because cats have style, too.
Some of the other little details – I wanted to add some ribbon or something to the card, but I didn’t want to do my usual and just tie it around the card. So I simply added it to the sentiment layer. I inked the sentiment stamp with Basic Black Archival ink, then used a cloth to take off the ink from Fabulous!, then recolored that with a Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Marker. (You could also cover the part of the stamp you want to use a marker on with tape or a post-it note when you ink it in Basic Black. Then remove the tape and color the rest of the stamp with the marker. That’s easier, but I was tired and still recovering from the zoo trip, so “thinking” wasn’t part of my repertoire last night.)
I keep forgetting about my Fine-Tip Glue Pen, even though it’s on my stamp table right in front of me. It’s perfect to add a little texture, especially to things like water and glass, so I added a tiny bit over her glasses. And the Rich Razzleberry layer looked so blah; I ran it through the Big Shot with the Sparkle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It seemed to fit the mood.
This card uses leftovers from my class yesterday. I had a cancellation, so decided to use the “kit” a little differently. I cut down the Whisper White image layer a bit, then matted it with Calypso Coral Cardstock.
I’m headed out to buy birthday presents for Miss Amelia today. I can’t believe she’s almost three years old. The time has gone so fast. It doesn’t just seem like she was a baby yesterday; it seems like her daddy and uncle were babies just yesterday. I’m determined to enjoy and make memories every single day.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
