Pinewood Planks Birthday

Pinewood Planks Birthday

I love making cards to send to family and friends, but sometimes it’s a lot of pressure. I always want to go “over the top” for family and close friends. And because I want them to be extra special, I always get creative block – especially when it comes to cards for my dad, brother, husband, and sons. Man cards are hard.

Because of this, my brother’s birthday card was about 6 weeks late. I don’t mind late birthday cards, because it means I can stretch the celebration out. But not everyone feels that way.

My sister-in-law’s birthday is this week, and I feel a little guilty that her card will arrive on time. But she’s a girl, so it was easier.

Oh So Eclectic, Stampin' Up!

I was playing with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and this was my favorite take on it. I added some Smoky Slate to the “wrong” side of the folder (the side without the Stampin’ Up! logo) with a sponge brayer. Then I ran it through the Big Shot with Sahara Sand Cardstock. I love the way it turned out!

I found a lovely color combination – Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, and Lemon Lime Twist – and decided to use that combo with the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and coordinating Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies. And, of course, you can bundle them and save 10%.  How gorgeous are those colors together? There’s also a little Bermuda Bay and Peekaboo Peach.

I added a Delicate White Doily and some Silver Mini Sequin Trim. Here’s a tip about the sequin bow. I looped the middle to form “ears,” then tied it closed with a strand of thread from a piece of Solid Baker’s Twine. Simply pull a thread loose, then keep pulling until it’s free. It’s less bulky than tying the trim or using a full piece of ribbon or twine.

The sentiment is from Tabs for Everything. This was the “free set” from OnStage in April, and I finally inked it up. It has lots of little sentiments and images, and it coordinates with the new Circle Tab punch. Bonus – it works perfectly with the Love Today Planner Kit.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Lovely card Buffy. I really like the way that you looped the sequin trim over top.
