Stamp-Off Friday Ribbon Challenge

Friday is one of my favorite days of the week. Oh, I know Friday is almost everyone’s favorite day, because a fun weekend is on the way. But Friday is our Stamp-Off challenge, and I love seeing what Jackie & Susan do with the challenge each week. Every other day their blogs are a surprise, but on Friday, I know it’s going to be the same theme as mine. It’s so much fun to see how differently we all interpret the challenge.

I totally enjoyed this one.

Yep. It’s a ribbon challenge. Stampin’ Up! has some gorgeous ribbon (and, looking at this photo, I just remembered I need to add more Lemon Lime Twist Ombré ribbon to my next order), and it’s easy to hoard it. You know it’s going to retire at the end of the catalog period, and you don’t want to use it all up. But here’s a little tidbit I’ve been trying to teach myself. “You can buy more!” If you run out, you can buy more. So use that ribbon on your projects!

In case you didn’t hear me gush about this earlier in the year, I was a display stamper for the April OnStage Local in Richmond. I received a huge box of Stampin’ Up! products from the 2017-18 Annual Catalog to work with. There was a LOT of ribbon in there, as well as Washi Tape, stamps, die-cuts, and cardstock and paper. Here’s one of the projects I created.

The project I’m talking about is the Princess Wand on the right. I made it with the beautiful princess in the scrapbook page in mind. I used some new (and some retired) ribbon and washi tape on this – plus the retired star framelits. Amelia loves it, and she’s turned many frogs into handsome princes. (Ok, she mostly uses it on the dog and cat, but she still has fun.)

That’s not my ribbon challenge project, by the way. I just wanted to show off my granddaughter. I decided that a princess with a wand needs a tiara, so my challenge project is this.

How awesome is that? I wrapped a headband in washi tape. You can use ribbon for this, but the washi was a little less bulky. Then I wrapped some Gold 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon around it, and added Berry Burst 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon, more gold metallic-edge, Peekaboo Peach 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, and Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Double-Stitched Ribbon to the back.

Of course, Buttercup (formerly known as Amelia) wanted flowers. I stamped the Daisy Delight daisy in Tangerine Tango ink on Peekaboo Peach cardstock, in Rose Red ink on Berry Burst cardstock, and Calypso Coral ink on Daffodil Delight cardstock. I punched with the Daisy Punch – which you can now order! – then layered and added them to the crown. The centers are simply 1/2″ Daffodil Delight circles with Glitter Enamel Dots in the centers. Buttercup/Amelia loves those and snitches them whenever she thinks I’m not looking.
