Black, White, and My Fav New In Color

Black, White, and My Fav New In Color

This was another challenge from this weekend. To “check in,” we posted pictures of ourselves with out favorite new In Color. Mine, of course, is Lemon Lime Twist, but Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide are really close. I like the other two as well, but loving Powder Pink makes me feel like I’m cheating a little on Blushing Bride (my favorite pink ever). Berry Burst is so pretty, and it’s gorgeous with Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant. But Lemon Lime Twist is so different from anything we’ve had lately, and it’s bold and kind of hits you in the face at first. I’ll admit it. When I first saw it, I thought, “Holy cow. What am I going to do with this?” But that passed really quickly.

After we posted our favorite new color, we were challenged to create a Black & White card that used only that one In Color. A bigger challenge was to use only one stamp, but I used two.

Beautiful You, Mediterranean Moments, Stampin' Up!

I stamped the umbrella lady from Beautiful You in Basic Black Archival Ink, then stamped her again on scratch paper and cut it out. I used that as a mask over the original stamped image. Then I stamped the street scene from Mediterranean Moments over and around her. Next time, I’ll tape over the lady’s shadow before I ink. Drat. Forgot that this time, but it really looks like an artist’s signature, so we’ll just say that’s where I signed it. It kind of looks like it could say, “Cooper,” don’t you think? And my handwriting is that bad. (What can I say? I’m a leftie.)

After I had everything stamped, I colored the umbrella black, but didn’t like it. It was just too flat, so I stamped it again on Basic Black Cardstock with Basic Black ink, then cut it out and pieced it to the image with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added some color to her dress and some scribbles on the bushes and trees with a Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker.

I wanted to add some Lemon Lime Twist ribbon (we’re just going to start saying, “LLT” for that color, ok?) to the card, but I didn’t have enough to tie a knot. So I cut a piece the length of the card (5-1/2″) and covered it with the LLT pattern of Basics Pack 2 Washi Tape. The leftover ribbon was just long enough to tie a bow, so I added it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.

I’m not sure you can see it in the photo (it’s hard to see in person), but I ran the Basic Black Cardstock layer through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It reminded me of rain and seemed to fit the mood of the card.

Feel free to play along with any of the challenges! They’re all lots of fun, and I’d love to see any of your creations.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!
