I was playing with some backgrounds the other night, and discovered a beautiful color combination – Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, and Tranquil Tide. They just seemed to be beachy and fun together. I watercolored across Whisper White Cardstock with an aqua painter and ink, overlapping a bit. (And, again, I wished I had used Shimmery White or Watercolor Paper after I finished, but I didn’t have those with me.)
It’s always fun to figure out what stamps to use with a newly created background. I decided to use the Floral Statements Rose Thanks stamp with it.
First of all, see how the cardstock is warped a bit? That’s why I wish I had used a different paper. Whisper White does warp when you use it with water. Of course, I could have added a lot more adhesive, but then you wouldn’t see why you should use Shimmery White or Watercolor Paper.
I was going to use Basic Black Archival ink, but I thought it might overwhelm the background, so I used Basic Gray instead. I’m still on the fence about whether I should have used black after all.
The other cool thing I used on this card is the Washi Tape. It’s the “Basics Pack 3,” which is the same pattern as Basics 1 & 2, just different colors. The little dots are my rebellion. I really, really miss our Clear Dazzling Details. It added dimension and shimmer, and you could color it with any of our refills for custom colors. Sadly, it retired a few years ago, and I’m still in mourning. These are little dots of glitter glue from a product I picked up at the Stamp & Scrap Expo last weekend. They’re so fun! They make perfect dots, or you can spread it out to create a shimmer. And the colors are gorgeous!
Before I send this, I’ll add more adhesive so the stamped layer will lie flat. This photo is for instructional purposes only. (Translation: I was too lazy to take and edit another picture, but I do hope you learned something from my mistake!)
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
