Garden Girl
I broke out of my comfort zone and purchased the Garden Girl stamp set from the new Stampin’ Up! 2017-18 Annual Catalog. I suppose it’s not totally out of my little design box, because it’s a “watercolorable” set. But it reminded me so much of Miss Amelia that I had to get it.
Amelia & I planted our garden when Mike & I got back from vacation, and we had a blast! She wanted to do the digging and planting and watering all by herself. By the time we finished, we were both covered in mud, but it was worth it. At one point, she was playing in the dirt, and looked over and me and said, “I yike this!” (For those of you who don’t speak Amelia, that means, “I like this.”) It warmed my heart, and I didn’t mind one speck of dirt that covered me from head to toe.
Not only does Amelia love to wear her galoshes (or Wellies or whatever you want to call rain boots), she also likes to wear dresses. And we have a bunny in the back yard that she and Mike love to watch. Amelia watches because she loves animals; Mike watches to make sure the bunny doesn’t end up in the pool. If you put tomatoes in the basket instead of carrots, this could be a picture of Amelia.
I used Watercolor Pencils to color the images on this card. They blend so beautifully, and they give a nice, soft color to a project.
After I stamped and colored the bunny, I wanted something to make his tail a little puffy. I dabbed a little Embossing Paste on his tail, and I love the effect. It reminds me of Liquid Appliqué that we used to have in the catalog years and years ago – but this was easier, because it didn’t have to be heated. It’s a little sturdier as well, and not spongy like the older product.
The sentiment for this is from Oh So Eclectic. I won that set for the Prize Patrol at Stampin’ Up! OnStage Local-Richmond in April. It has a coordinating set of framelits (that I keep forgetting to order) and the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper is beautiful! I used it on this project from Monday.
Hope your garden is coming along as beautifully as ours. Of course, we cheated a bit and bought plants from our local nursery instead of starting with seeds, but we got a late start because of spring rain and our vacation.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
