You’ve Been Framed!

You’ve Been Framed!

We have another fun challenge for our Stamp-Off Friday. This week, we’re using new framelits or thinlits.

I almost went with the subliminal message here and used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, but I didn’t. And I probably should have titled this, “You’ve Been Thinned,” because I used a thinlit, not a framelit.

Happy Birthday, Stampin' Up!There are so many things I love about this card. First – Glossy White Cardstock is back! When I saw that, I did a happy dance. No, really, I actually did dance. There are so many beautiful techniques you can do with glossy cardstock. To create the background, I swiped Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pads along the cardstock. Start with the lighter color (Bermuda Bay, here), and hold the stamp pad at a 45 degree angle and drag it down the Glossy White Cardstock. I alternated using the full pad and just using the edges, leaving white space in between. Then repeat and fill in with the darker (Night of Navy) stamp pad. It’s so easy, and you just can’t mess it up, because it’s going to look amazing no matter what you do.

Ink dries a little slower on Glossy White, so give it a minute to dry. I turned my cardstock over onto my scratch paper and rubbed the back to kind of “blot” it.

While the cardstock was drying, I die cut Happy Birthday using the new Happy Birthday Thinlits. While the catalog calls this “thinlits,” it’s just one die, but you can cut the words apart if you want. This is another thing about the card that I love. This is such a fun die, and it can stand alone or work with stamps or other embellishments. I cut two from Whisper White Cardstock, and sponged one with Lemon Lime Twist Classic Ink, then layered them. I think adding the white die-cut under the sponged one really makes it stand out.

The final touches – I added two pieces of Basics Pack 3 Washi Tape along the edge. This is the third thing I really love. There are four new Washi Tape packs in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. One is Pick a Pattern, which coordinates with the Pick a Pattern Suite. The other three are Basics Pack 1, Basics Pack 2, and Basics Pack 3. The names may seem uninspired, but the washi tape is gorgeous! There are five designs in different widths and colors. Each pack has the same five designs, but the colors are different. Pack 1 is pinks and berry colors, Pack 2 is yellow and greens, and Pack 3 is blues. They’re all so gorgeous, and, yes, I have all three.

My final love – the White Perfect Accents. I overlooked these for much too long. You get 75 adhesive-backed accents for only $5. I added three to the card, and colored them with permanent markers. (Stampin’ Write Markers are lovely and match the ink colors, but since the ink is water based, it will rub right off, so you’ll need to use something more permanent.)

Now, go see what Jackie and Susan have created for you. Will they use the Seasonal Layers? I know it’s a favorite of all three of us, so I can’t wait to see what set they choose!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Well, I wish someone would ‘thin’ me! LOL 🙂 I just love this background you created, Buffy – just gorgeous. It’s great to have the glossy cardstock back; now I don’t have to be so stingy with my ‘stash’!

  5. Saw a link to your card on Gail Allen’s blog and I can see why she was inspired by your card. Everything about your card is awesome Buffy. I am thrilled the glossy card stock is back this season and your swipe technique is just the perfect venue to show case it. Great card from start to finish! Thanks for sharing!
