Lovely Watercolored Words

Lovely Watercolored Words

Sometimes, one can find inspiration in odd places. Mike & I had dinner out one night while we were in Floriday. While I was admiring the décor of the restaurant, I happened to notice the sign for the rest rooms. I took a photo, but, sadly, the light wasn’t great and there is a huge glare in the center; it was a little difficult to take a good picture without bothering (or scaring) the ladies at the next table.

The sign was very simple – hot, summer colors watercolored across the sign with “Rest Rooms” painted on it, and it was the inspiration for this card.

Oh So Eclectic, Stampin' Up!I had so much fun mising colors. I used mostly reds and yellows with a little pink and simply washed the color over Watercolor Paper. I’d tell you what colors I used, but I made this two weeks ago. Half the fun, though, is mixing and creating your favorite design.

After the ink dried, I used the Lovely Words Thinlits to die-cut friend. I stamped missing you from Oh So Eclectic in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, then layered the watercolored paper to Chocolate Chip card stock, and then to a Pumpkin Pie card. Of course, I added some Enamel Shapes in Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry. I thought using a heart for the dot on the i was a fun touch. Very middle school, don’t you think?

I loved having minimal supplies with me on vacation, because it stretched my creativity a little. I’m sure Mike will raise his eyebrows at my use of the word “minimal.” As Inigo Montoya would say, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” But compared what I usually have available, it was definitely minimal!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

This is a very nice card, especially for “minimal.” I know what you mean, if I had to made do with half my craft room it would be minimal, and you know how much stuff I have. I bet your car was mostly craft stuff and probably 3 changes of clothes, right? Well, maybe not that bad. I like this simple card with the cut out and the dots.
