Ombré Stars
It’s time for another Friday Stamp-Off! This week, it’s an “ombré” challenge.
Since we’re on vacation, I was going to cheat and use one of the ombré patterns in the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack. I decided (or, rather, Mike did) that I liked this one better for the challenge, so I posted my “cheat” card a few days ago. You can see it here.
Susan and Jackie are probably thinking, “Why didn’t you schedule the post before you left for vacation?” because, of course, that’s what they do. Jackie & Susan are very organized. Our challenges are posted months ahead of time, so we can work on them early and schedule the posts. That’s such a wonderful idea, and that’s what Jackie & Susan do. Buffy is happy if she gets her card made and a blog posted in time for the 6 a.m. Friday launch. Most Thursday nights, I’m creating and blogging well into the night. I was happy that I had this card (and an alternate!) finished a couple days ahead of time.
I started by coloring a piece of Watercolor Paper using Powder Pink, Berry Burst, and Fresh Fig ink with an Aqua Painter. After it dried, I die-cut stars using the Wood Crate Framelits to create this card.
I mounted the stars to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of designer series paper (DSP) from the Wood Textures DSP Stack (available June 1). I’m loving that DSP. You can see another design in my post from yesterday.
I used the Banners for You set to stamp the banner in Powder Pink and the sentiment in Berry Burst, then die-cut them with the Bunch of Banners Framelits dies. Until May 31, you can bundle the stamps and framelits and enjoy a 10% discount. Both products are carrying over to the new catalog, but the bundle price will not be – so order now to get the discount!
Check out the amazing projects Susan and Jackie made. They always “wow” me with their challenge entries, as well as their projects throughout the week. They are both super creative and talented!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Buffy, reading your blog cracks me up. Yes I did have mine posted well in advance and used the Cheat paper. I really like your concept of the separate shapes, with subtle color effects. I love this use of the stars from the crate framelits, against the wood DSP.

Thanks, Jackie! I loved the way you used the daisy with the ombre tiles. GORGEOUS! – and not cheating at ALL.

I’m right there with you on the ‘night before’ stamping, Buffy! Whenever I can get a post scheduled ahead of time, I do a little happy dance around my computer 🙂 I love how you did the ombre watercolour, then cut the stars. So pretty!
