An Ombré Thank You
I made this card for a challenge, but decided to go another way for my challenge entry. Actually, I asked Mike which he liked better, and this was not his choice. I think the other one was less floral and more “manly.”
I inked the floral stamp from the Wood Words stamp set (available June 1) with Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers, then stamped onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and die-cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits. I wanted to add some trim or ribbon, so I decided to play with the new Copper Trim (available June 1). Here’s what it looks like on the spool.
It’s 1/4″ thick and very pretty used as a twine substitute. But if you pull the edges, you’ll find that it’s kind of rolled into that thin shape. If you pull it apart, you get the “fish net” looking ribbon I have on my card. Cool, huh? I can see lots of fun possibilities!
I layered a piece of the Old Olive ombré paper from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack (also available June 1. Sorry…I should have brought more “current” products with me!) over an Old Olive card, then added the ribbon and die-cut floral image. Finally, I stamped thank you from Wood Words at the bottom.
If you’ve been following my facebook page or reading the blog, you may know that we’re on vacation in Florida. It’s lovely here. Today’s sea breezes were a bit strong; my towel kept flapping my face, and it was almost impossible to read without ripping pages, so we came in early and will probably go shopping. Next week, I’m meeting my cousin who lives about an hour or so from here for more shopping and lunch and fun. I’m so looking forward to that!
Mike & I have been working very hard to stay healthy on the trip. I brought our scales along (which made both boys laugh, but I’m a little obsessive. After losing almost 30 pounds last year, I don’t want to come home and have to start over!), and we’ve been walking and working out daily. I chose yoga as my exercise, because I enjoy it and I always feel better after a practice. Except today. Today everything from my neck to my toes is sore. Apparently I did a full body workout earlier this week!
On our walk yesterday, we saw three sea turtle nests. I’m going to check and see when the scheduled hatch date is. It would be lovely if we could watch the baby turtles head to the sea! However, Mike has learned that most of them don’t make it, and I’m sure it would be illegal if he went down and helped them into the ocean. Maybe I’ll leave him here.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
