Another “Bloom”

Another “Bloom”

This is a late post today. Last weekend was our town’s annual “Apple Blossom Festival.” What began as a celebration of one of our area’s largest industries has been overtaken by the tourism board and basically has nothing to do with apples. There are a few things – an apple pie baking contest, and…well, that’s about it. People dress and decorate their homes and businesses in pink and green to kind of mimic the blossoms, but that’s really the only nod to the apple industry. It’s mostly an excuse to take a few days off and enjoy parades, craft shows, luncheons, dinners, and parties. Mike & I typically head out of town as soon as we can.

We just got back from our mountain hideaway, and we had a wonderful weekend of rest and relaxation. I worked on craft projects most of the time, and we got back late last night. After I unpacked, I hit the sack, because I knew Amelia would be visiting bright and early.

Here’s one of the cards I made this weekend. In honor of our “Bloom,” as the locals call it, I used the Birthday Blooms stamp set and pinks and greens.

Birthday Blooms, Stampin' Up!

I used a few things that will be retiring at the end of the month – the Lace Doilies from the Holiday Catalog and the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack. I hope you ordered those early, because they’ve sold out. I always tell my stampers, if there’s something you love in the catalogs, order them before April, because once the retiring list is released, some things go quickly.

Things that will be around for at least another year – the Birthday Blooms stamp set. It’s so fun, and such an elegant set. As you can see, it’s for more than just birthdays. Another fun product that will be in the new catalog – the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies. The coordinating Swirly Bird Stamp Set will also be available, but the discounted bundle will not be. So – if you’d like to save 10% on the stamp set and thinlits, order that bundle today.

The final carry over that you can just barely see is the Silver Metallic Thread behind the doily. It’s so fun to add a little of the thread to a project. It adds just a little extra bling to the card.

Amelia and I had a fun time of crafting today. We worked on several Mother’s Day projects, and I’m really excited for her mommy and the grand and greatgrandmothers to see what we made. I’ll try to remember to post them after Sunday.

Hope you’re having a lovely day – and thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy.
