You’ve Got Vellum
I had planned to make at least a few swaps for Stampin’ Up! OnStage 2017 Local in Richmond, but time just got away from me. I did manage to make cards for our table, though.
I stamped the flower and sentiment in VersaMark on Vellum Cardstock, then embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Tangerine Tango, and Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Markers on the back of the vellum to color the petals. The stem and leaves are colored in Old Olive.
I love the “Stained Glass” look, don’t you? And depending on what you use to back it, it can be radically changed. I mounted this one (and half of the others) on Peekaboo Peach Cardstock. I mounted the other half with Flirty Flamingo. I was amazed at how different they looked – even though I used the exact same markers.
The rest of this was simple. I created a card from the same color as the layer under the vellum (in this case, Peekaboo Peach), then added a strip of Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper (DSP). After adhering the vellum layer to the cardstock layer – and this is easy, because wherever there is ink, the adhesive doesn’t show. I used glue dits behind the flower and some of the letters. – I layered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Oh – did I mention there are mini dimensionals in the new Annual Catalog? Woot! There are the regular size as well, but no more cutting into tiny pieces.)
The final step was tying ruched ribbon around the card. The fold is on the side (the cardstock is 4-1/4″ x 11″, folded to create a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card). Of course, this is Peekaboo Peach, but I used Flirty Flamingo for the Flirty Flamingo cards. It’s almost a monochromatic card, if you discount the Old Olive and DSP.
The ruched ribbon and all of the DSP collections/stacks in the Occasions and 2016-17 Annual catalog will be retiring, along with other embellishments, tools, and stamps. While I always hate to lose the products I love, I really don’t miss them after I start getting new products!
You can see the retiring list here. Hurry – because everything except stamps will be “While supplies last.” Retiring stamps will be available through May 22. Don’t miss out on your favorites! Order today.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
