Sparkly Love

Sparkly Love

Several weeks ago, Stampin’ Up! CEO Sara Douglass posted a video on her facebook page showing a watercolor wash technique. It’s super simple and very fun. I think I’m addicted, because I’m using it for today’s and tomorrow’s cards.

Here’s my card.

Sunshine Wishes, Stampin' Up!

Tip #1 – Use Shimmery White Cardstock. It works beautifully for this technique – and it a wonderful cardstock for water coloring. As an added bonus – it really is shimmery. There’s a little sparkle in it, which makes it perfect for one layer Christmas or wedding/anniversary cards.

I used Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, and Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pads for this card. Simply squeeze the closed stamp pad together, then open and use the pool of color inside the lid. I think Sara used ink refill in the video, but I got plenty of ink doing it my way. Pick up the ink with an Aqua Painter, and paint over the cardstock. (I squeezed a little extra water into the pool of ink so it would spread really well.)

I used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits for the sentiment and heart. You can bundle these thinlits with the Sunshine Sayings Stamp Set and save 10% – which, of course, is what I did. But this card worked really well without the stamps, I thought.

I die-cut love from a Gold Foil Sheet, and the heart is die-cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. The heart needed a bit of color, but Blushing Bride and the Sale-a-bration Sweet Sugarplum seemed a little too pink. I have a smidge of the retired Red Shimmer Paper left, but I hate using retired product, because that’s just being a tease. So I sponged some Real Red ink over the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

So there you go – super easy, super fun, and super cute! Tomorrow is Stamp-Off Friday, and I have another watercolor wash card for you. It shows off a little more of the new Sale-a-bration Glimmer Paper Stack – so be sure to check in. And don’t forget that we’re over halfway through Sale-a-bration. Don’t miss out on this fabulous products. For every $50 you spend, you can select a free product. Host a party, and you can enjoy an extra $25 in Hostess Rewards with a $250 minimum party. And if you join my team, you can select two FREE stamp sets of your choice to add to your starter kit. Contact me today to learn more!
