Two, Two, Two Challenges in One

Two, Two, Two Challenges in One

First off, if you don’t understand the title of this post, you’re very young. It was a breath mint slogan many years ago. “It’s two, two, two mints in one!” I have no idea what the product was. Doublemint? (But that was chewing gum.) Certs? I don’t know, but it fit today’s post.Stamp Off New Logo

Second – It’s Stamp-Off Friday with Susan, Jackie, and me!! And it’s a watercolor challenge, which is my favorite.

Third – I’m also posting the “Craft Project Central Creating Pretty Cards” sketch challenge today, so my card fits both challenges.

And finally – you know those kids in school who did the absolute least they could do but still fulfilled the requirements? Yeah – that’s me this week. I realized this morning that I hadn’t done the watercolor challenge yet. And, of course, I had a little blonde toddler with me all day. And this little toddler likes to play in my stamp room. Normally, it’s fun, but when I’m facing a deadline, it’s a bit stressful, so we did other things. (Side note: I probably shouldn’t call her a toddler any more. She definitely doesn’t “toddle.” Actually, she runs everywhere. I don’t think she ever walks. But, hey – why crawl when you can walk? Why walk when you can run? And why run when you can fly? One day, that girl will be flying to great heights, I just know!)

After Wes picked her up tonight, I grabbed the chance to work a little. My inclination was to use Beautiful You, but I felt like I just needed to branch out a bit. And I need to use some stamps that will be retiring soon. I dithered over a couple different sets, but decided to do a Valentine. So….

First, let me show you the Sketch Challenge from Craft Project Central. It was designed by Monika, and it was a lot of fun! It’s totally out of my “wheelhouse,” but I’m pleased with my end result.

Here’s the sketch –

And here’s Monika’s card.

So cute! I love those stamps and framelits! And you’re going to want to add a card to this challenge, because for every 10 cards entered, one is randomly chosen to win a free subscription to Craft Project Central! Simply link your card to the challenge site – and you have until the end of February. Easy!

Now – here’s my card for the watercolor and sketch challenges.

Love You Lots, Weather Together, Stampin' Up!

I followed the sketch really well, but the watercolor challenge? Well – all the watercoloring is on that little tag in the center. I watercolored the bugs and the tag. Like I said, it’s the barest minimum you can do.

I stamped the bugs from the Love You Lots Hostess Stamp Set in Basic Black Archival Ink, then used Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen to color them. I didn’t think it was enough color, so I colored again with Watermelon Wonder Classic Ink. The background was colored with Daffodil Delight Classic Ink and a Blender Pen.

All of the tags are from the Tags & Labels Framelits collection. I die-cut the hearts from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Umbrella Weather Framelits Dies. The Whisper White stamped flowers and the Love sentiment are from the Weather Together stamp set. If you bundle the stamps and framelits, you can save 10% – but hurry! The bundle price will end when the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog arrives in June. The Weather Together bundle is worth every penny, in my opinion. You can use it for birthdays; thank you, thinking of you, and get well cards; baby and bridal showers, and lots of other occasions. It’s one of my favorites from the Annual Catalog. And if you add Blender Pens to the bundle, you can add a free Sale-a-bration item to your order!

Now – go see the spectacular watercoloring that Jackie & Susan did. I know theirs will be the “A” projects and you’ll be totally wowed!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Hey, you watercolored and those bugs are awfully darn cute. Yes, I do believe it was doublemint gum. They always had twins in the commercial, as I recall.
