Stamp-Off SAB Challenge
It’s another Friday Stamp-Off Challenge! This one is a theme challenge. Since it’s Sale-a-bration at Stampin’ Up!, our challenge is a Sale-a-bration one.
In case you’re new to Stampin’ Up!, during Sale-a-bration (from now until March 31, 2017), you can select a FREE Sale-a-bration product for every $50 you spend. And you can add an additional $25 to your Stampin’ Rewards (aka “Hostess Credits”) with a qualifying party. AND – if you decide you want to enjoy a minimum 20% discount and MORE as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, you can select $125 in product and two free stamps – any price – for only $99 during Sale-a-bration. It’s the best time of the Stampin’ Up! Year.
For our Sale-a-brate challenge, I decided to use the first product in the Sale-a-bration brochure that I knew I wanted to qualify for – the Hey, Chick set.
I love, Love, LOVE this set. All the chickens in the set are so cute, but this one is my fave. It’s perfect for so many occasions – birthdays, thinking of you, new baby, and more.
I stamped the image and sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink, then watercolored the chick with Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Markers. I scribbled the markers on clear blocks, then used a Blender Pen to pick up the color and watercolor the image. You can also squeeze a Classic Stampin’ Pad, and pick the color up from the pad with a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter. There are lots of ways to watercolor – including our new Watercolor Pencils (WOOOOT!). The medium you use is totally up to you and the effect you want. I used Blender Pens with Classic Ink Pads with Whisper White Cardstock, but you can use Shimmery White Cardstock or Watercolor Paper with Aqua Painters and get a really cool watercolor look.
The Crushed Curry background layer was embossed with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added a bit of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon under the stamped image, but some of the Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape also looks great with it.
So what’s your favorite Sale-a-bration set? I’ll be showing you samples of some of my other faves over the next 2-1/2 months, but for now – see what Jackie and Susan have for you. You’ll be re-organizing your list, I know, because they always make me change my wish list when I see their creations.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Delightful card Buffy. I love the piece of twine behind the focal element. I almost used that set and decided that I had already make enough chick cards and needed to do something different. Like you, I am finding that hexagon EF very handy!

I love that chick! I need to get out that embossing folder. I love the look of it. Reminds me of chicken wire which is perfect to use with Hey Chick!

Thanks, Susan! I love that chick too. Something about that “hair.” Maybe it’s because it’s what I see in the mirror every morning.
