Stamp-Off Friday Sketch Challenge
It’s another Stamp-Off Friday – and this week is a sketch challenge from Susan. Here’s her sketch.
Fun, right? Since Susan was so sweet and used Blushing Bride last week for my color challenge, I used Melon Mambo this week. I think it’s one of her favorite pinks. It’s very bold and bright, and I do like it, especially with Basic Black and Coastal Cabana. I opted to use it with Basic Black this week.
I love it when I have an idea and it works out perfectly! I’m happy to say, this card is even better than what I saw in my mind before I started working on it.
I used the fabulous Special Reason stamp set and Stylish Stems Framelits Dies for this card. Of course, I bundled them so I could save 10%. I die cut the flower and leaves from Basic Black cardstock. The flower die leaves the negative image, but the leaf die cuts the entire image out. No problem; I saved the black veins and glued them back into the card later. I also die-cut the flower from Daffodil Delight so I’d have a yellow center for my flower. And how amazing does that Melon Mambo flower look framed in Basic Black? It just pops, don’t you think?
After all the die-cutting, I adhered Melon Mambo cardstock behind the flower, glued the Daffodil Delight center in, and adhered Old Olive cardstock behind the leaves. Then I added the Basic Black veins back into the leaves. Super easy!
The rest of the card was just layering. I adhered the Basic Black to Whisper White, and then to another Basic Black panel. The card base is Melon Mambo, with some Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper on the bottom half. I added another pop of Whisper White with the Whisper White Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack. The other half of the ribbon combo is Real Red – perfect for valentines! The sentiment is also from Special Reason. I stamped it in Whisper White on Basic Black cardstock, then embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
I stamped the inside of the card as well, but didn’t take a photo. I added a layer of Whisper White, then stamped the smaller flower and leaves in Melon Mambo and Old Olive.
Here’s the good news – Buy the wood-mount bundle or the clear-mount bundle with another $4.25 product (adhesive, ribbon, embellishments, embossing powder – anything you want!), and you can select a FREE Sale-a-bration product.
Now – take a minute or two and check out Susan’s and Jackie’s blogs. I know – I’m absolutely positive – that you’ll be happy you did, because they always WOW me with their creations!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Very nice card, Buffy. Funny though, you and Jackie both used Melon Mambo (which is not my favorite pink, by the way. I don’t really like pink at all. I am more of a Calypso Coral kind of girl). I love this set of dies!

Aargh. I thought you were a melon mambo girl. I do know you like the retired In Color pink, right? (Just humor me and say yes.) I like Calypso Coral better than pinks, too. Now that you’re adding girls to the family, though….

Oh Buffy, this is brilliant. I love this flower, combined with the leaves, rather than just sitting on card stock without a leafy component. Very thoughtful and wonderful card!

Thanks, Jackie. I love Melon Mbonwith black, but my fave combination is to use it with Bermuda Bay. Glad you did that this week!!

Fabulous combination of black with the Melon Mambo, Buffy! The die cuts are gorgeous – I got the stamp set at OnStage, so now I HAVE to buy the dies!
