Stamp-Off Friday Challenge

Stamp-Off Friday Challenge

Stamp Off New Logo

It’s FRIDAY! I love our Friday Challenges with Jackie and Susan. I enjoy trying to guess what they’ll use, and if they’ll use the same set (which they often do!). Mostly, it’s just fun “stamping together.”

Our challenge this week is a “new” challenge.

The challenge is “Ring in the New,” – but it doesn’t have to be a New Year’s challenge. I decided to use a new stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! 2017 Occasions Catalog.

Beautiful You, Stampin' Up!

Beautiful You is my all-time favorite set from the Occasions Catalog. It was my prize patrol prize at OnStage Local in November. I decided to do a reflection with the Umbrella Lady tonight. Christy said, “Oh, I saw a card with that technique…” Of course. Every time I have an idea, it’s already been done. Still, I didn’t see the card before I made this one, so I’m counting it as an original idea.

I stamped the image on Whisper White Cardstock in Basic Black Archival Ink, then stamped it again on Vellum Cardstock using Basic Gray Archival Ink and cut out the vellum image. Usually when I do a reflection technique, I stamp on a window sheet, then turn it over and rub it onto the card stock to transfer it, but I decided to do something different this time. It’s a little different look, and I’m happy with how it turned out.

I colored both images with the new Watercolor Pencils, using a Blender Pen to smooth out the color. The awesome thing about these pencils is you can layer colors and blend them to create new colors.

I turned the vellum image over, and adhered it under the stamped image, then sponged some Soft Sky and Dapper Denim to the top image and Smoky Slate to the reflection.

The cardstock layers are Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight. I love how the Daffodil Delight brings out the yellow in the umbrella. I added a strip of Playful Palette Designer Washi Tape to the edge of the card. It gave it a little brightness, yet kept the idea of raindrops.

You can order this beautiful set beginning January 4. It’s a perfect “Happy New Year” gift to yourself!

Now – check out Susan’s and Jackie’s blogs. I know they have something that will totally WOW you.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!

LOVELY reflection technique Buffy. I would not have thought to do that with velum, so I learned something!! I haven’t ever thought about using the watercolor pencils on velum either. Cool beans!!

  2. Susan Horr says:

I love this technique, Buffy. I have never heard of it before so it must be your original! I didn’t even think that we didn’t have to do a New Year’s card. Of course, the rule breaker I am, I was thinking about not following that but decided to behave myself (for once)!

Your card is a brand new idea, Buffy – I’ve never seen a reflection done using vellum before! It’s totally awesome (did that make me sound millennial, or just old?). I’m with you – this is one of my favourite new sets. Wishing you a wonderful and happy New Year, my friend! 🙂
