This is one of the fabulous ideas I got from Craft Project Central. Regina’s project was super cute note cards and envelopes made from old calendar pages. What a great idea, right? I always have these gorgeous calendars that I hate to throw away at the end of the year. But who wants to keep old calendars around, especially when you know you’re just going to throw them away without even looking at them in five years. And you’re going to ask yourself, “Why did I keep that this long?” It’s a crafter’s curse.
So here’s a beautiful way to repurpose those pages and brighten someone’s day as well.
I used the Envelope Punch Board for the envelope, of course. Simply measure your calendar page, decide what size card you can make with it, then cut the calendar page to the right size and create the envelope. Easy! My calendar page was cut to 6-3/4″ square.
I got a big aggressive with the scoring. Quick tip: Calendar pages are typically thinner than card stock and even designer series paper! It was easy to fix and hide with a little Washi Tape, though – and it looks like I meant for it to be there.
Here’s the inside of the card. I covered my “daily notes” with a bit of Wisteria Wonder Cardstock. It coordinated well with the colors in the calendar.
For the note card, I used Perfect Plum and Pink Pirouette card stock. It’s a one-sided card, because I’ve stressed enough this season. The thank you cards are going to be a bit more simple.
I stamped “Thank You” from the Swan Lake stamp set (available January 4, 2017) in Perfect Plum Classic Ink and the flowers in Tuxedo Black Memento. I colored the flowers with the new Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils – also available January 4. I used Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Old Olive. Then I added a bit of Gold Glitz and Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details to tie in the silver embossed dragonflies.
You’ll need to add a mailing label to the envelope, of course, since it’s a bit busy for the postal carrier to read without it.
