Espresso & Dijon with Emeralds
We took a little break from Christmas cards in our card classes this month. We made one winter card that could be used for a holiday, but the others were strictly all-occasion.
I’ve been using brighter colors for Christmas, so this one seemed a little dull to me at first. But after working with it for awhile, I think it’s my favorite of the three cards we made this month.
I chose the colors – Early Espresso, Delightful Dijon, Emerald Envy, and a hint of Cajun Craze – from the Moroccan Designer Series Paper (DSP). I actually selected the other side of the DSP, but decided I liked the Early Espresso side better for this card.
I stamped the background from You’ve Got This in Early Espresso on the Delightful Dijon card. The flower is stamped on Watercolor Paper, so it watercolored really nicely with Stampin’ Up! Classic Stampin’ Pads and an Aqua Painter. After everything was dry, I die-cut the circles with the Layering Circles Framelits.
The leaves, of course, are die-cut from Emerald Envy Cardstock using the Flourish Thinlits. They cut very well if you use the Precision Base Plate with the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.
Finally, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso and tied a little Emerald Envy Solid Baker’s Twine around the card. I chose “You’ve Got This” for the sentiment because that’s what I keep telling myself. I have almost all my Christmas shopping done. I have to make a couple more gifts, wrap everything, and shop for a few more food items for dinner. But overall – I’ve got this! And whatever doesn’t get done, doesn’t need to be done.
One reason “I’ve got this,” is because I have a wonderful support system. Of course, my biggest support is my wonderful husband. Mike did a lot of little things around the house tonight while I was on a date with another guy. Of course, the other guy was our older son. Jon & I went to see Rogue One – and we had a blast. My boys are so busy these days that I appreciate every second I can spend with them. That’s my favorite part of Christmas – spending time with family.
Hope you’re having as wonderful a start to the holidays as I am! Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy.
