Oh, Look! I Have a Stalker

Oh, Look! I Have a Stalker

I think my favorite new Sale-a-bration set is “Hey, Chick.” You can earn this set FREE with a qualifying order during Sale-a-bration from January 4 through March 31, 2017.

I was drawn to this set because of the “hair” chick. I have never – ever – been able to manage my hair, so the Beetles chick caught my eye. But then – there was this one.

Hey Chick, sale-a-bration, Stampin' Up!

She looks like she’s talking to her, um, tail, right? So first the card deets, and then the story. I stamped the chicken in Basic Black Archival Ink. Technically, you should use StazOn when you’re going to watercolor an image, but I prefer Tuxedo Black Memento or Basic Black Archival. If you’re careful, you can watercolor images stamped with those inks and still achieve nice results.

I used Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze to color the image. And I added a little Crumb Cake shadow under the chicken, so she wasn’t floating on air. (Today’s card is brought to you by the letter “C.” – Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Chicken… I think I’ve been watching too much Sesame Street lately.) The designer series paper layer is from the new Party Animal suite. And, of course, I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies to die-cut the chicken.

So- the story. About eight years ago, I had a stalker. Someone was following me everywhere I went. It was quite disconcerting, because I had never had a stalker before. And at 50+ years old, it was kind of odd. A stalker at this age? Who’d have thought?

Finally, one day I realized the person following me was… me. Somewhere in midlife, my, um, “derriere,” as my dance teacher called it, had grown. It had grown enough to create its own shadow. It had its own ZIP code, actually. I didn’t think I was that big, but apparently I was big enough to follow myself. Last New Year’s Eve, I saw a photo of myself, and my stalker was even more prominent – which caused me to join Weight Watchers online and lose 30+ pounds. I’m happy to say that a year later I’m still way under my goal weight. WOOOT!

So – that’s the story behind this card. I saw this chick looking at her “stalker,” and thought, “That’s me!” The best part about this story is I feel better and am healthier than I’ve been in years. So – here’s to a healthy, happy future for all of you!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day.

Too cute Buffy (both card and story). My stalker is in the front… my belly, just like this chick.

Too funny, Buffy!! Cute card – with many obvious uses!!!! Your weight loss is inspiring, and your sense of humor is refreshing. “Stalker” – never would have thought of that!

Buffy, I can’t imagine you needing to lose a ‘stalker’ – you always look fab! Love the cute story though! (my problem is similar to what Jackie says – it’s all up front! 😛 ) Love that chick set!
