When I saw the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog at #OnStage2016, I fell in love with a lot of products. The Beautiful You and High Tide stamp sets and, of course, the Watercolor Pencils called to me. But I also liked the Swan Lake stamp set. It’s on my “first order in January” list. I like the sayings, and I love the images. Maybe it’s because I’ve been singing “duck” songs with Amelia, or maybe because we pass a lake full of ducks every day on our way home. Whatever the reason, I like the set. (Yes, I know ducks and swans are two different creatures. I read The Ugly Duckling when I was little, and I kept hoping that I’d turn out to be a swan one day. Alas, I’m still just a clumsy duck. But, hey – clumsy ducks have way more personality that silent swans skimming the surface of the shimmery lake. Yes, I’m also into alliteration today.)
My friend Christy won the Swan Lake set at #OnStage2016 for her “Prize Patrol,” and she brought it to one of our stamping days. I keep trying to get her to trade it to me, but she won’t. (pout) Anyway – here’s a card I made with it.
There are lots of “Sneak Peeks” on this one! First – the stamp set. The sentiment (Wherever you go today…) has a follow-up inside the card (may happiness follow). I think I was using that idea when I stamped the dragonflies (sorry about the smudge), but the placement is a bit unfortunate. Growing up on the farm, flies used to buzz around the cows, um, derrieres, because cows are gross and don’t bathe. So the swan looks like she needs to just dip in that lake a bit so she won’t attract flies. What can I say? I was having an “off” day.
I stamped the swan two times – once on the Very Vanilla panel, then again on Whisper White. I cut the Whisper White one out, and adhered it over the one on the Vanilla panel. I’m not sure why I wanted a pristine white swan, though, since she’s drawing flies.
The designer series paper layer is one of my all time favorites. It’s the Falling in Love DSP from the Occasions Catalog. Other peeks – the Very Vanilla 1/4″ Satin Ribbon (gorge!!!!) and the So Detailed Thinlits Dies. These make great borders, but since we couldn’t order the new Lace Doilies yet, I decided to make my own pretty embellishment with the dies and Soft Sky cardstock.
If you’re like me and can’t wait until January to order from the Occasions catalog, you can join my team of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and order beginning December 1. You’ll enjoy a 20% discount, free catalogs, and more! If you love the products and want to order without being a demo, that’s fine too! Let me know if you’d like a catalog and I’ll send you one as soon as I can order them.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!
