Stamp-Off Friday – Trick or Treats
Today is Friday – and you know what that means! It’s time for another Stamp-Off! This one is a Trick or Treats challenge.
Since we don’t have small children, we haven’t done Halloween at the Cooper house for years. The last time we handed out treats, it was cute little packages of pretzels (because we didn’t want to hand out sugary stuff). It was about the same time a fancy-schmantzy subdivision opened up and everyone started taking their kids there for treats, because – well, probably because everyone on our street had their lights turned off because we’re a bunch of old fogies who don’t want to give out candy. Anyway – we got about three trick-or-treaters and my boys and their friends ate pretzels for years.
We’ll probably still have our light off Monday, because I’ll be at a choir rehearsal and Mike would rather sit in the basement in the dark than deal with little kids. BUT – I need a couple of treats for my favorite little pirate this year. Yep. Miss Amelia LOVES pirates and that’s what her costume is this year (I can’t wait until she’s old enough to watch Pirates of the Caribbean with me. We’re going to have a Johnny Depp Drool Fest).
Since I need to have a cute treat for my little pirate, here are two options. I did two, because one isn’t mine. It’s my friend Judy’s. She’s a local demonstrator who joins our meetings, and she brought a super cute treat for everyone at the last meeting. It was a little bag filled with candy with a cute tag and clip. Sadly, I didn’t get a photo, but Christy is going to take a pic of hers so you can see the original later. Before I could take a picture, Miss Amelia saw it and said, “What’s that? Mine!!!!” (She’s two. Everything is “Mine!”) I gave her the choice of candy. Of course, she picked the largest, which was a Reese’s. I chose another, and she said, “Mine!” “No, Amelia. This is Seesa’s. But we can trade. Do you want to trade?” Of course, she said yes. I gave her half of mine. Did she give me half of hers? No. She’s two. She said, “MINE!!!!” and kept all the candy. I hate trying to negotiate with two year-olds!
Well, here’s my take on Judy’s amazing bag.
How absolutely freakin’ cute is that witch’s hat? That’s Judy’s. It uses a circle with (I think a retired) tree builder punch. She had it clipped to a cute treat bag with a banner. And it was filled with awesome candy – which I had planned to add into my bag, but it had mysteriously disappeared when I went to add it. Hmmmm….And Amelia wasn’t even here after the first two pieces were eaten. I can’t imagine where it went.
I made a “bag-a-lope” from the Glassine Gift Bags, and then stamped the spider web from the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set. I stamped the Trick or Treat sentiment from the Spooky Fun set and added it to the bag. Finally, I added some designer series paper inserts to the bag using the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Designer Series Paper. This was mostly to cover the fact that I ate all the candy and the bag is empty.
Since most of the cuteness from my first project was from Judy, I thought I should do one that was more original.
This project uses the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes with the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the Spooky Fun Bundle with the Spooky Fun stamp set and Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies. I’m filling this one with “nummies” (gummy treats!) and I’ll probably add chips and guacamole to the bigger bag. Amelia LOVES guacamole.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
