Basket of Birthday Wishes
I’m really enjoying the Basket of Wishes set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog. You can use it for so many occasions.
I stamped the basket and berries in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. It gives a really sharp image. And since the stamps are photopolymer, you can place them exactly where you want them.
I decided to pair the stamp set with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits dies. This makes a perfect frame for the berry basket. I used the Layering Circles Framelits to die-cut the berries.
Usually I start with a color scheme or sketch, but this time, I kind of worked backwards. I already had the berries stamped and watercolored and had added some glue using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen over the berries. The fine-tip glue works like our retired Crystal Effects, giving an image a glassy finish. I thought it made the berries look very sweet and, well, good enough to eat!
It was easy to select the Real Red card base, since the berries were colored in Real Red. I thought the Cucumber Crush design from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper worked really well with the basket. And then it was simple to decide on the copper foil and embossing, as well as the Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape.
I meant to add some Copper Metallic Thread under the berry layer, but totally forgot until I had already glued the circle to the card.
This was fun to make – and the sentiment was perfect for the friend I’m sending it to. She’s celebrating her birthday tomorrow, and at the end of the month, she and her husband are moving to Japan for a few years – so this seemed to be just the right thing to say.
