Basket of Thoughts
I was so sad to hear that the father of a friend of mine passed away suddenly the other day. Fortunately, my friend (and her family) had a wonderful relationship with her dad, and saw him almost every day. He knew how much he was loved – and they knew he loved them as well.
Sadly, many relationships aren’t like that. We let little stupid things break up a friendship, relationship, or marriage. We need to remember that every time we say, “Goodbye,” to someone, it could very well be the last time. We need to cherish every minute, every second with those we love, because time together isn’t guaranteed. No one leaves our house without a hug and an, “I love you.” (Ok – it’s a little weird for the UPS guy, but, hey…)
No, I don’t hug my UPS guy. Not this one, anyway. My UPS driver when I first became a demo, though, was wonderful. I miss him a lot! But that’s a story for another day.
Here’s the card I made for my friend and her family.
It’s very simple. I stamped the basket and flowers from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog set, Basket of Wishes, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Then I colored them with retired Blendabilities markers. I do hope we have something soon to replace them. I love our Stampin’ Write Markers, but I also like to have options – like pencils, crayons, or other watercoloring tools.
I die cut the image and the mat layer with the Layering Ovals dies, and added a strip of Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper under the oval. I’m so proud that I’m actually using my DSP!!
Finally – I added a border of flowers in Old Olive on the bottom of the card, and a sentiment from the stamp set (in Memento) on the top left. This basic one-layer (with three smaller layers) is a stretch for me. I tend to add a lot of layers to cards, but I’m trying to simplify.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Go hug a friend or family member and tell them how much you love them – and have a wonderful day!

Lovely card – they will be blessed by it. And your blog is so true. Life is too short for the silly drama.
