Merry EEEEEK!

Merry EEEEEK!

If you know me at all, you know that I. Hate. Mice. I grew up on a farm. We had mice in the barn. And in the outbuildings. And sometimes in the house (groan!). I remember waking up in the wee hours of the morning hearing whispers and banging. Apparently, one of my parents saw a mouse, and Mom and Dad were trying to catch and dispose of it without making me aware of it. (Do I have amazing parents, or what? How many farmers try to hide mice from their kids?) We lived in a farmhouse; there were bound to be mice, right? But – ugh – I didn’t want to see them. Or even know they were there. Because I. Hate. Mice.

So how surprising is it that I absolutely love the Merry Mice stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog – and it was one of the first sets I ordered? Not that surprising. These little guys are so much cuter than farm field mice. I mean – look at them.

Merry Mice, Stampin' Up!, Goulish Grunge

First of all, our field mice didn’t wear clothes. And they absolutely didn’t help decorate or bring gifts. So, apparently, these are Cinderella mice, and everyone knows Disney mice are so much cuter than real ones.

I stamped the mice on Watercolor Paper with Jet Black Stazon Ink, then watercolored them with Stampin’ Write Markers and Aqua Painters. I decided to use the “out of the box” technique with this one. I measured the image with the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies, then marked where the image was outside the die. I cut the “extra stuff” with Paper Snips, then placed that part outside of the die, and cut the rest with the oval. Here’s a wonderful tutorial that shows how to do this.

The background brick wall image is from the Goulish Grunge set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog. I purposely mismatched the bricks to give it a more disheveled look. I layered the die-cut to another Layering Ovals die cut in Cherry Cobbler, then added some Gold Metallic Thread to the back. The final touch was stamping some stars (also from Merry Mice), then covering them with Gold Glitz Dazzling Details.

Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy!
