It’s Your Birthday!

It’s Your Birthday!

This is a card we almost made for classes this month. After I worked on it, though, I realized it was a little too involved for a large class. The alternate card was just as pretty, but was slightly easier and a little less time consuming.

Stampin' Up!, Balloon Celebration, Thoughtful Banners

I love the colors in this card. Whenever I’m stuck for color combinations, I just pull out a designer series paper (DSP) pack. All the work is done; I just have to choose which colors from the DSP I want to use.

For this card, I chose the By the Shore DSP with Calypso Coral, Soft Sky, and Dapper Denim. The other colors in the DSP are Mint Macaron and Very Vanilla. I stamped the balloons on Soft Sky and Peekaboo Peach with the same color ink as the cardstock. Then I stamped the air bubbles (or whatever…) in Island Indigo and Calypso Coral. Just a few punches with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, and that’s all there was to the balloons. I added some Very Vanilla Thick Baker’s Twine to the balloons.

Instead of layering the DSP to a piece of cardstock a little larger than the DSP, I opted to add thin strips of cardstock under the DSP for a “Faux Layer.” The bottom strip is Calypso Coral, and the top is, of course, Soft Sky. Because, really, why would you want to use a whole piece of cardstock that will be covered up when a 1/2″ will do just as well, right?

For the final touch, I tied some Dapper Denim rouched ribbon around the card, and stamped celebrate from Thoughtful Banners onto Soft Sky cardstock in Island Indigo ink. I punched the banner two times with the Duet Banner Punch, the clipped and layered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

So there you go! Super easy card. And it will work for anyone.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
