Stamp-Off Friday – Textures!

Stamp Off New Logo

I’m enjoying Jackie’s, Susan’s and my Friday Challenges. They’re so much fun, and they are challenging. But the best part is if we just can’t get it going, it’s ok. We’re all very understanding and easy to get along with.

Touches of Texture, Challenges, Stampin' Up!

This week’s challenge is textures. It could be using multiple layers, sponging or using texture stamps, using some kind of textured paper or ribbon…anything that adds texture to the project.

Touch of Texture, Stampin' Up!, Flower Shop

I decided to use the new Touches of Texture stamp set with Birthday Blossoms. I know what you’re thinking. “Those aren’t Birthday Blossoms flowers! Those are Flower Shop flowers!” That would be correct. However, my first attempt at this was at my craft day, and I only had white embossing powder. It looked ok, but every time I saw the card, the embossing just seemed so…white. The rest of the card was understated, and those white embossed flowers just jumped at your face. I had wanted to use the new and gorgeous copper embossing powder, but, um, “someone” was in my embossing drawer and moved it, so I couldn’t find it when I was packing up.

As I was starting to write this blog post, though, I had to redo. But – another oops – I had loaned Birthday Blossoms to a friend. So that’s why my Birthday Blossoms are Flower Shop flowers.

I restamped the flowers on vellum card stock with Versamark, then embossed with copper powder (yes, I did find it) and punched them out. I colored the petals on the back of the vellum with a Marina Mist Stampin’ Write Marker.

I didn’t have a Marina Mist stamp pad with me either. I think someone was using it that day and accidentally slipped it in her bag. It will probably come home next week! Anyway – I colored the sentiment with the Marina Mist marker as well. It isn’t as perfect as it would be with a stamp pad, but I kind of like it. It gives it a little more texture as well!

So that’s my challenge entry. Check out Susan’s and Jackie’s blogs and see what they did. I know they will amaze you!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Your card is beautiful Buffy. I love the background you did. On a side note, you need to stop lending things out and put your initials on your stuff!

Thanks, Susan! Mine is very low-texture compared to you and Jackie. I forgot to sponge. I forgot the ribbon. Ugh. (And, about your side note…I actually almost forced the set on her. It was my idea, because I had a TON of new stuff to play with. And she always makes me a set of whatever she’s working on. So this time, it was a benefit to me!)

You always do really well when you attempt texture, and this is no exception. Very pretty card and a CASE, for sure!
