Stamp-Off Friday Challenge – Break Loose the Banners

Stamp-Off Friday Challenge – Break Loose the Banners

SO Break loose banners (1)

It’s FRIDAY!!!! Wooot! Although, when you do what you love and love what you do, every day is Friday. Between babysitting Miss Amelia and being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, every day of my life is a vacation. But, back to Friday – it’s time for another Stamp-Off Challenge with my friends Jackie and Susan.

This week, our challenge is all about banners. Stampin’ Up! has some fun new banner sets in the Annual Catalog (and wait until you see the Holiday catalog in September! More banner fun!!) – and there’s the Duet Banner punch and the Bunch of Banners framelits that coordinate with the stamp sets. So many fun options!

I decided to go the literal way this time, though. Ever since the boys were little, I put up this banner (or one very like it) on their birthdays.

Break Loose the Banners

It’s probably a dollar store banner. I don’t even remember where I got it. I have several, actually, but this is the one I’ve been using this year. It’s ok. I add balloons sometimes. But it’s a dollar store banner. Kind of “meh,” don’t you think?

So I decided to create a birthday banner for the rest of the year (and years to come).

Letters for You, Stampin' Up!

Isn’t that fun? I used the 2015-17 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack and Banners Framelits for the banner bases. Watermelon Wonder just seemed like a happy, celebratory color. Plus, it matched the Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape. The Letters for You stamp set and Large Letters framelits are perfect for a banner. I layered them to Pool Party ovals using the Layering Ovals framelits.

I just need to admit to something. When I saw Watermelon Wonder for the first time last year, I said, “Really?” (with a curled up nose) “It’s not pink. It’s not really red. I don’t think I’ll use it much.” And this is why I decided this year to just love everything from the beginning. Because I really, really like Watermelon Wonder now. It’s so happy and bright – but not overpowering.

Back to the banner. It will be so easy to add a coordinating banner with each person’s name on it – so birthdays will be even more special now. I can’t wait for the next birthday. And, as it happens, it’s Amelia’s! I’ll have to make a “2nd” and an “Amelia” banner before the end of August. She’s already keeping the tradition of celebrating all month long. Her dad goes back on night shift in early August, so they’re having her party on the 7th. Her birthday is at the end of August – so I’m sure she’ll have lots of presents and celebrations all month long.

Now, go see what Jackie and Susan have done with the banner challenge. I’m not going to try to guess what they did this week since both guesses were wrong last week. I do know, however, that they’ll have something amazing!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks, Jackie! Watermelon Wonder is a very happy color! I think I’ve just been using it with the wrong colors. Love it with Pool Party. (And Peekaboo Peach!) I’m slow – but I’m getting there!

You’re funny! I don’t think the dollar stores are too worried. 😉 But I am looking forward to “customizing!” I had some added banners, but they didn’t “go.” Now we’ll be so much more coordinated!
