On a Watermelon Roll
Maybe I should say, “On a roll with Watermelon Wonder.” Because I am lately. I mentioned in my first post today that I was kind of neutral about that color when it came out. But now – WOW! I’m really liking it. It’s pops with Pool Party (in the banner for this morning’s challenge). But take a look at how it goes with Peekaboo Peach.
I always smile when I think “Peekaboo Peach.” That sounds like a stripper name, don’t you think? Frisky little In Colors!
Anyway – Since my first entry in the Craft Project Central “Creating Pretty Cards” sketch challenge didn’t turn out like I had hoped, I decided to enter again. In case you have forgotten, here’s the sketch.
I used Vertical Greetings and Touches of Texture. That’s it! And only two colors of ink – Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach (giggle). I also used a little versamark for the dragonfly. I wanted him (her?) to be copper, but I didn’t have any with me when I made the card at “Craft Day,” so it’s gold embossed on vellum. I think I like it better than the copper. The gold is a little “cooler.” I colored it on the back with a Peekaboo Peach Stampin’ Write Marker, then cut it out and added it to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Because it’s colored and embossed, you can’t see the adhesive.
I used the lacy stamp from Touches of Texture for the top horizontal stripe. And the bottom strip is the Watermelon Wonder design from the Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape. I love how it looks on the Peekaboo Peach cardstock.
I think this is going to be a great combination for fall. It’s really a hot combo for summer, but I think with Vanilla or Crumb Cake, it’s going to be beautiful when I’m making cooler weather cards. (And speaking of cooler weather cards – I got a peek at the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog. Oh, my. So. Much. Fun! Time to dig through the couch cushions for change. Or someone’s sock drawer where he keeps “mad money.”)
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Give the sketch a chance, if you haven’t already. You still have a day or two to create and post a card. You could win a free subscription to Craft Project Central!
Have a wonderful day!
