My card for today was an idea I got from Bronwyn Eastley. I thought the little owl was so adorable, I totally CASEd it! I made it several weeks ago, but I was waiting for the right time to “launch it.”
Today seemed like the perfect day. It rained like crazy – which is good, because we really needed it. Mike & I are at a conference in Northern Virginia (actually, where we are right now, they’re calling “DC,” even though it’s still Virginia). Fortunately, we got the car packed before the rain started. It poured until we got “over the mountain.” And, again, fortunately, it stopped before we got in the Northern Virginia traffic. These people are crazy on dry land; I can’t imagine how they’d be in pouring rain!
Here’s the card.
I used Bronwyn’s ideas to create the owl entirely with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies. How cute it that? I decided to adhere him/her to Soft Sky card stock, and then to a trimmed card front from the June Paper Pumpkin kit. Then I layered the entire panel to a Soft Sky card. Still, it needed something.
I decided to add one of the umbrellas from Weather Together and one of the sentiments from the set. (And look! There’s even a tear or raindrop in the sentiment. I’m not sure where that came from. I’d love to say I planned that to mimic the rain, but, sadly, I have no idea how it happened.) My plan was to use Tip Top Taupe and lots of In Colors, but I got sidetracked. I think the reason I added the umbrella and sentiment was so I could throw in some Peekaboo Peach and Watermelon Wonder.
I could have given this card to Mike so many times over the past 34 years. We’ve weathered so many storms – but always together. Somehow, the storms always seem easier when we’re together.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
