Stamp-Off Friday Color Challenge
It’s Friday! (cue the balloons!) It’s time for another Stamp-off challenge. This time, we have a great color challenge, and it uses some of my faves!
When I saw this, I thought – beach! These are just awesome beach colors. Or maybe I’m just ready for a beach trip.
My project happened by accident. I was doing the “color drag” technique that I talked about several weeks ago, and ended up with a beautiful background. The idea was to create a sunset, but then I realized I had used the challenge colors. Hmmmm. How to incorporate this into something more than a piece of cardstock with ink all over it.
At the Creative Convention Online a few weeks ago, Ronda Wade showed how to make a cute little frame, so I created a frame from Bermuda Bay cardstock and inserted my background stamped with one of the sentiments from Wild about Flowers. It needed something – so I added a sailboat and clouds, and – well, take a look.
I left my directions for the frame at home, so I was winging it. Ronda used 12″ x 12″ cardstock for her project, but I used a piece of 8-1/2″ x 11″. I started to write instructions, but you really need a visual, so I’ll either create a video (woot! About time, because I keep promising) or do a sketch. It’s a simple box (easier than I made it from memory), but it’s hard to visualize without actually seeing it. Stay tuned.
I worked on this at a craft day with my friends, and Liz had the Swirly Bird stamp set with her. She insisted I use it for the project, and she was right. It’s perfect! I got the coordinating framelits, but I didn’t think I really needed the stamp set. WRONG! They’re on the way to my house as I type. That sailboat is too cute to pass up! I die-cut the clouds using the Umbrella Weather framelits.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
