Penned & Painted Garden
I have another Penned & Painted card for you today, but first – some fun news!
From July 7 through July 31, you’ll receive a $5 coupon for every $50 you spend on Stampin’ Up! products. You’ll receive a coupon code via e-mail, and you can spend it on product in August! How fun is that? It’s like a mini “Sale-a-bration!”
Here’s a little tip for you. The coupon codes cannot be recovered or resent, so when you receive them, you may want to create an e-mail folder just for the codes. If you don’t trust technology (and, honestly, this would be the time my computer decided to crash!), you can write the codes down and keep them somewhere secret and safe. (Yes, I am thinking about the Lord of the Rings right now. “Keep it secret; keep it safe!” And, honestly, $5 coupons for Stampin’ Up! product are. well, “my precious.” Ok – heading into Creepy Land. Moving on…)
You can order online or through workshops or classes. Simply save the e-mails with the coupon codes, then use them in August. Easy.
Now – here’s my Penned & Painted watercolor card.
Obviously, I used the Penned & Painted stamp set. I wanted a more watercolored look, so I used Watercolor Paper. First I stamped the flower centers in Calypso Coral (the smallest image) and Blushing Bride (the “filler”). Then I took a damp paint brush and brushed the color out a bit. I added stems and leaves in Cucumber Crush and Wild Wasabi.
Finally, I stamped the outline for the flowers and lady bug in Basic Gray Archival Ink. I watercolored the lady bug with some Watermelon Wonder classic ink. And then I added a wash of Soft Sky and Smoky Slate around the flowers.
This needs some glitter and color in the flower centers, so, of course, I’m using my Crushed Curry Dazzling Details for this. (It’s a little joke with my stamping friends. When Stampin’ Up! offered clear Dazzling Details, I added classic ink refill to it so I could have glitter glue in any Stampin’ Up! color I wanted. Crushed Curry was the boldest yellow we had at the time, so I added it to a bottle of Clear Dazzling Details, and we always used that in class for flower centers. Here’s the funny thing – when Crushed Curry was an In Color, I didn’t like it! Now – it’s my “go to” yellow.)
The “happy birthday” sentiment is from the Happy Happenings set. I have lots of birthdays coming up in the next several months, so I’m stocking up.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy! Have a wonderful day.

I’m wondering – am I the only one who read ‘my precious’ with the Gollum voice?? (yes, I read all the books years ago, and saw all of the movies!) I love this card, Buffy – the watercolouring is gorgeous; such a soft look.
